Jan, you slipped in there while I was posting. I know you are getting so excited about your new life on the road and away from the cold harsh winters.

B has his retirement and pension, the job just supplemented his income and boss was a real jerk to pull the rug out from under him like he did. B only wanted to work maybe another year at most anyway.

We are going to stay at the house while working on it because going back and forth would be too hard. And we want to really hit it and get done sooner. We don't know where we want to live, if anywhere. Maybe we will become RV people too. B thinks I will love Scotland and want to live there part of the year but not all the time. I think it gets cold in winter too. Janet, maybe we will meet up in Florida some winter! Wouldn't that be fun!

Holly has not posted since the 16th. Today is the 24th. I'm worried. Even without Internet at the house she always posts from town when she takes the kids in. Posse time.

GG, that would be so fun to meet in Florida!!! I am hoping to meet a lot of you along our travels. You are right, we need the posse out for Holly. I wonder about her.
I do believe I can officially call myself a hoarder!!!!! I am really purging and getting things ready for the yard sale. Our bedroom and living room are now twice the size they were!!! I know I will not be able to do this on the road, everything will need to be in it's place. We have no floor space or wall space. It does look so much better without all the clutter and craft stuff all over the place. A lot less work it will be too.
Now to make something for supper. I will post more later,

Good evening everyone,

I havenot read anything that anyone has written because I wanted all of you to know that I have not had land line service sine 9 AM last Tuesday. NO land line no internet. I am at the library just before Tai Chi.

They originally said it would be this past Saturday and then they said it would be Monday. I do have a cell phone that I usually use for emergencies that I am not carrying but most people do not know it exists because I use it so infrequently.

Now to post this before it disappears.

Sweet dreams,

Holly

Good evening!
Just popping in to say Hi! Maybe I will have to play catch-up :) I have missed so much.

YAY! It is just the phone lines! So glad that you checked in Holly. Nice to hear from Patty, too. It has been so long! How is the coffee truck?

So, I am not good at posting photos and I got a new phone...but, I will try!

Today, I took a nap. I so deserved it, even if I say so myself! The horses earned their keep today...they were weed eaters. They did a good job, but they left a few piles for me. HMMMM. Wish I knew how to keep that from happening.

One of MIL's friends is not doing well. Bea is a lovely woman who I admired throughout the years. She was very nice to my kids and always sent a goodie or handmade gift when MIL visited us. At 90+ years old, she would type her letters to me because she thought her handwriting was not as nice as it should be. She was a spitfire in her day and I hope she is comfortable. I sent a letter to her today. I hope it won't be the last.

Mar, thank you for sending the pictures. You have a great house and yard. How nice to have raised gardens. A lot easier to keep up. Your horses are so pretty. Glad you are happy there.
I forgot to tell you what happened last night. I was on my laptop playing a game when I saw something at the corner of my eye. I looked real quick and then screamed. It was a chipmunk that got into the house, it ran right back out. Scared the living daylights out of me. Tonight, our living room tv just decided to quit. It is not even 3 years old yet. Died during the news. We took the tv out of the bedroom and hooked it up in the living room, got the tv out of the motorhome that we replaced in there, we have that one in the bedroom now, but the remote will not work, so if we want to change the channel, we have to get up to do it. Need to get a universal remote for that one, I guess.
We got about 1/2 inch of rain again today, then it turned sunny and very humid. Now it is very windy. Feels good with the windows open. Hope it is breezy in the bedroom.
Have a great evening,

Jan

Ladies,

I got a call from LeMar, Annette's son. I had told her to tell him that I had his back if he needed it. He does need a little help financially at the lease signing for his new place. He qualified for an efficiency in the same building as his mother. She said that he will be totally on his own. She is no longer going to pick up and clean up or make meals for him. I think I believe her.

We have two additional animals in our place. One is Oliver, the dog of our deaf neighbor. An old friend of hers just died and she has gone out to meet with some mutual friends to moarn. The other is a male cat who belongs to one of Matt's harem ladies. She gave me the litter box and litter. She neglected to buy him food so I will get that tomorrow. Luckily, I had a can of tuna. He ate that right up. Margo, harem girl, is pretty much homeless and sleeping at Matt's place. Someone else has her dog. She drinks vodka and gets really messed up on it. She is a singer but her voice will not work and she doesn't/can't do anything about it. Sad.

Jan - <cranky old lady voice> Back in my day, nothing had a remote control or fancy lights. We got up and walked to the TV to change the channel and wack it on the side to fix the picture. We watched what was on at the time and if we missed a show, we could see it again in the summer. Dang Nabbit! Everyone has it too easy these days. <normal voice> I do not believe you are a hoarder. If you were, you would not be able to get rid of anything at all. You are like me - I have it because I believe I will use it at some point in the future . . . maybe.

Marianne - I love that back yard. So peaceful looking. The horses look as if they are enjoying the new place.

Holly - Glad you are okay. A posse would have cut into my Dungeons and Dragons time.

Patty - Glad you are here. Never mind me. I say a lot of goofy things. I'm about to say something right now!

It is a little hot tonight so I let the girls out for the first time this summer. It will cool down quickly because it has just started to rain. I can feel the cool breeze coming in the window. Shut up! No one can see me. They are all too far away.

I love your horses. Makes me miss mine. House and land are beautiful. Glad you love it. Where is MIL going to live? With you? What does your hubby say? My last years of nursing I dealt totally with the elderly. Dementia, parkinson's etc. There are many risk factor's when dealing with the elderly. Good luck.

GG
Sounds like you did a fine job with the alert system for your mother. Will she keep it on? When I was doing Home health visits I would see them every where but on! Dastardly deal that boss pulled. Anything to save a buck. Rotten to the core. What goes around comes around!

Jan
Good for you getting rid of everything. I don't know how you're doing it. A lot of work!

Marie
Nice garden. I let the girls hang loose all the time! LOL!

Better post this before it flys off somewhere!

Darlene, I know you are right. She will lose it like she loses everything else. I hope for her sake that when her time comes she will just go to sleep peacefully in her own bed.

Mar, the place is just beautiful. I see you have a plant that I have always called a Colorado Blue Spruce. They will not grow here. So beautiful and smell so good. The horses are beautiful too. No wonder you love them so much. I really love it when you gals post pictures.

Holly I'm glad you checked in. At least you know you are loved and missed.

I am going to go to bed and try to sleep because tomorrow is the dreaded trip to Houston. B has decided to stay home and look after the dogs but he actually teared up when he told me he would miss me. He seems to be dealing with a bit of depression. I think it's normal with so many things changing for him. He says he is anxious to get started working on the house so finally he will be able to do something for me. Relationships are tough but he is a keeper.

Mar, love your new house. I did see pictures from when it was for sale. I knew right away it was the house you bought. It looked like you.

Holly, now you know not to stay away too long. We will find you!

Marie, funny how things have changed. I have done the " we didn't have color tv until I was in high school and they didn't have calculators when I was in school" to my kids. Imagine what kids nowadays will be telling their kids. "In my day, you actually had to drive the car yourself instead of just programming it to go where you want."

Homework yesterday wasn't too bad. It was a web design class. They are great at starting out with dummies like me. Today is my first day of internship. I have a bunch of forms I have to have filled out and a report to do each week on what I worked on. I will be so glad to get school over with.

Marie, I also think your garden looks wonderful. I skipped it this year. My mom and I just couldn't eat everything.

Jan, I think everyone feels like a hoarder when they are trying to downsize. You can't help but think,"Why did I keep this all these years?" when you come across a few things. Marie is right. You wouldn't be able to get rid of this stuff if you were a true hoarder! I bet it made you feel great to hear your brother in law say nice things about your rig. I'm so glad.

g, it might be important to get out to the country and let B get started on fixing things so he feels a sense of accomplishment. I bet this is a tough time for him. He will be so grateful for your support. I do hope your mom doesn't find it too hard to keep the button where she can find it. I hadn't thought that it would be that hard because they always show it around the elders neck. But, I guess someone has to remember to put it there! It's the details that will trip you up every time.

Bunny, will you miss the garden or will it be one less thing to have to do? How is the internship going to be? First impressions?

mar

So, in the month we have owned this house, our new homeowner's insurance policy holder (Nationwide) has sent us four letters. One to welcome us, two to notify us of increase in premium and one - last week - to let us know they are cancelling us in August. You can imagine how much time we have spent on the phone with this company. I am now waiting, probably uselessly, for a Resolution Specialist to call me. Wheeeew. That was me NOT holding my breath! I need proof that we are not cancelled! Can't just take their word for it at this point, right?

Mar, I will not miss the garden. It just doesn't feel right here. I'm afraid even though I have been here over 3 years, this is not my home. If it was, I would redo the whole garden.
My first day of internship was great. I learned I have a really good chance at the job. The college is being really tight on money now. If they hire someone from inside, it will cost a lot more money to pay them for this job. Then, the vacated job may not be filled. So if this supervisor doesn't want to be hated by the department losing the employee, she will not hire anyone already working at the college. I'm the cheapest choice! Yea!

Time for a nap!

oh, I thought you guys would get a kick out of this picture. My youngest got in the yearbook for his groups Basic Training Year book.
This was the last day of the Crucible. They had to hike up this steep hill and everyone was exhausted when they got to the top. They were given their Marine emblems and Jesse said they all had tears from being so tired and accomplishing the goal of finishing basic training.

Bunny, that is quite the picture of your son. Hope he is enjoying it now that basic is over. Sending good thoughts that you get that job. It would be hard, but it would get to your goal a lot faster.
Mar, We downsized 4 1/2 years ago when we moved into this house, I got rid of most of our stuff, then I kept collecting more while we were here. Did not take long to fill the place up. I will not be able to do this in our RV, or we would not be able to move. We would have to climb over everything like on the hoarders show.
I went out for breakfast with my sister today, our weekly get together. It was cold and dreary all day, only in the 50s. Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that it is summer.
We sold our little camper today to a young couple. I hated to see it go down the street, but knew that we had to get rid of it before we moved. I hope they enjoy it as much as we have when we did go camping in it.
Have a great evening,

Jan

I have not been feeling so hot. I injured my knee on Monday of last week and I'm still off work. I have to be able to kneel and lift up to thirty pounds and the dr. said no kneeling and put a twenty pound weight restriction on me. I start physical therapy tomorrow (these things take so long). Hopefully I can go back to work soon. I'm wearing a brace which helps a great deal. Been doing a lot of cooking (just made cocoa cookies). Haven't been able to walk my dog.
Jan--I know it was hard to say good-bye to your little camper. I get that way about cars. But you'll have lots of adventures in your RV.
Bunny--I admire your son for making it through basic training.I wish the government would treat returning veterans the way they deserve.
My brother came over to my parents' house today and he mowed the front yard and I weed-whacked. When my brother and his family in Texas get here for the fourth of July they can help do some of the things around the house that need to be done. Also, my parents' car got fixed today--some spring in the rear axle had come off. I check on them almost every day. They seem to be doing alright now, but I worry.

Cindy I am so sorry you are still suffering with your knee. I know what a pain it is to not be able to do the things you want to do. But please take care of it and be patient--if you try to rush it, it will only take longer to heal.

Patty , welcome home! Hope you can come back and stay a while!

Marie, you crack me up. I know you are a fantastic friend and everybody is lucky to be able to call you friend. I am glad you have chosen this thread for your regular hangout. It would not be near as much fun on here without you.

Mar, I can see why you love your place. I love it too. It's beautiful.

I am at mom's tonight and have figured out how to use my phone as a hotspot to use my IPad. I usually don't bring it with me.

Bunny your son looks handsome even with that expression. He's a cutie.

My mom is becoming so senile it is hard to have a conversation with her. And getting so stubborn. Her stories get all mixed up. I took her to see a movie tonight and then to Chili's for a bite to eat. She is not feeding herself properly. She has taken in this tiny little very old dog which is covered with flees and pees all over the carpets. Mom doesn't notice.
