My main barrel horse Sequoia hasn't been doing too well these last few months and I have been working hard to get him better. Well he is finally well and I rode him today for the first time in 3 months or so. He so loved it and was wanting to run so much. We are both out of shape. I'm just so thankful he is finally better.

Thank you ladies for the well wishes. Sequoia is a character. Sort of macho but sweet, to me anyway. All my horses have certain songs and one of his is Stayin alive by John Travolta. Or I'm bad by ZZ Top. My hubby says he's preppy. Hates trail rides but loves to go to the barrel races and watches the other horses run to learn how to do better, I swear. He gets new ideas from watching, he's always trying new things. Sometimes he forgets to let me know. And he always loves it if I bring him a hamburger or nachos from the concession. He has an athletic look, but he doesn't have a baby doll head like a lot of people like. Just macho. I'm just glad he's better.

Well, as a friend told me many years ago, "You can't ride their head!" He looks like a good horse.

He is a good boy. He is fast and he takes good care of me. He always asks before he goes faster. If we don't win it's my fault. He doesn't like it if someone gets on him and tries to be dominating. He won't take it. I bought him from an abusive guy that had bought him from a friend of mine. She was heartbroken cause the guy was mean to him. He complained that he was bucking him off all the time. But I've had him since 2006 and he has never tried to buck me off. And I have ridden him a lot. He's a bonehead. He keeps that strong will in that hump on his nose I think. He doesn't have a lot of big names up close but further back he has Driftwood, Leo, Grandy, and Secretariat.

Laura,
Sequoia is awesome. He is a king for taking such good care of you and being such a good partner. Those are one-of-a-kind and few and far between!!

Your Sequoia looks alot like our Tahoe! Ta has a bit more of a "blaze" though. And not nearly the power backend that Sequoia has! Nor the same kind of plumbing ...

Glad you have a safe ride that you can count on.
