Well, we've lived here for over 2 years now, and lately Tim has been mining some rock/gravel out of these little hills down towards the street. Today, though, he hit WATER!

We have a spring with awesome, clear, tasty water now. We already have an artesian well, but it's got really high iron content, and we have to Berkey filter the drinking water. But the spring water is awesome!

We need to figure out what we're going to do with the new found resource. I'm thinking 1000 gallon cistern and a hand pump so we can get some water when we go down the drive to get the paper/mail. I'll get a decent work out that way :)

My dad has a spring on his place, where we pasture our cows in the summer. It is the best water you can ever find. OURs has been flowing for a hundred years, we just celebrated being a century farm. We have a tank around the spring, with a pipe for run off, and it fills a stock tank. Good luck with getting yours set up. We do have a spring house around ours now.

Congratulations on your find! We have much of the same here Natalie, our well water is full of iron and minerals. There are several year round springs on the property but our landlords haven't utilized them to any extent. We've been talking about setting it up to a pump and I can't wait for that to happen next spring. The water is delicious!

Congratulations on the water find!! That's awesome news. We are on a community water system and the water comes from a natural spring up in the hills. You're going to love the water.

We have our Artesian well in the yak pen, so the overflow fills their water trough :) I think we'll use the spring for us... just need to figure out how to set up/winterize it Think we'll fill it back in until spring.

I have memories of 20 yrs. ago.(spring house envy ) We met a man in the hollows of WI who bought an old farm and lived off grid. He built a small spring house and kept the fish he caught in there until he had guests for supper.
