What a beautiful name once it is pronounced and for such a beautiful baby calf.
They sure change when they get big don't they?

Congratulations CJ

Thought I'd share a few newer pics of our "girls" with you. When Robin was home for Christmas she wanted to get an updated look-see of the Longhorns.

Siobhan, our newest girl born October. Growing up! She is a feisty thing and here is getting a bath from mom, Snowflake.

This is Siete, our other girl,(on the left) she's going on 2 years old. Her mom is a totally black 1/2 Angus, 1/2 Longhorn. This girl is just so interestingly marked.
That is me there, she actually did come up and lick my hand . . nothing like cow slobber!!

Thanks for letting me share!

Well sheesh CJ...I didn't realize you had named a heifer after me. I feel so honored ;). Hahaha...she is cute. I didn't even know you had longhorns. They are beautiful creatures!

Hey "clothedinscarlet" :D.
Yup, one of our favorite names. I know some folks would think it a downer to have a COW named the same name as theirs. But our Longhorns are pretty unique and special. I love seeing each new baby and how they are marked, watch their personality develop.

And, yes we do eat them . . . we don't eat the heifers unless they prove to be non-producers. We have three steer calves (in line for the freezer when they're ready to butcher), all different ages and their names are "Gunsmoke", "Huntly" and "Peyrone". Gunsmoke is next to go in the freezer . . . and he has been informed.

Our grown heifers are "Patty", "Snowflake" and "Ebony". We're hoping "Siete" is a producer . . I think she'll have some pretty flashy marked calves! The big boy pappa and king of the mountain bull is "Nougat". He is half Longhorn and half Angus. He's built like an Angus but his markings are totally Longhorn.

Very interesting creatures!
Thanks for looking!

Beautiful pics, CeeJay! I chuckled at ClothedinScarlet's post...I had a cow named after me at the ranch next door to my dad's when I was little, about five years old or so. Thought it was really cool until we all had our summer cookoff and we ate it. LOL!
