Got the Fall cleaning for the upstairs room under control. Gets pretty cold up there so wanted to get that done while I could still leave all the windows opened.
Funny how all of a sudden it cools down. This upcoming week looks like the 50's only for highs. But for the most part I still have my windows opened. Hate to give that up.

Kudos for you, Nancy! We were doing the same this past week. It's starting to get cold here, too. I envy you're ability to still have windows open - we're suffering a massive stinkbug infestation in Western PA, and we try not to even open the back door unless absolutely necessary! My hubby was out on the front porch roof sealing up a leak one afternoon last week. He had to go out through our bedroom window, but he was sure to close it almost completely behind him, leaving just barely enough room to slip his fingers in to re-open it. Since then, we're finding stinkbugs everywhere on the second floor! And you can't go anywhere without seeing them crawling all over the buildings or landing on your car to take a ride. Even coming in from the garden, you're at risk. I love to have fresh, cool air coming through the open windows in the bedrooms at night, but I just don't dare. These things are just ... gross... smelly... crawly... and everywhere! So, enjoy the open windows as long as you can for me, too, okay? ;) Hugs - Nini

LOL! Oh, Nancy! Believe me, you DON'T!!! They are similar to squash bugs, I think... or maybe they are, they just look a little different - more shield shaped and silvery, where squash bugs are more elongated and black. All I know is I hate them. They were in out garden right along the black squash bugs feeding on every squash I had. They put out this really stinky sour-breath smell, and when you kill one, the others smell it and come lookin'. There are no known natural predators, and very little kills them. Not even birds or animals will eat them! Some people try soap spray, but they just keep coming. They are attracted to homes because of the light (they are attracted to light at night, and, to me, seem to really like white wood trim!) and because of the heat in the cooler weather (they like to hibernate in every nook and cranny they can find!).

I tried to find the video for you, but couldn't. Believe me, the video of them outside and inside of homes would give you the heebeegeebies!!! That little picture of them crawling all over the light doesn't even begin to see their mass congregations all over the sides of homes as well as inside! Even when you go to the grocery store, you'll come out to find them all over your vehicle, ready to hitch a ride home with you. It's like a pestilence, I'm telling you - Biblical! EPIC!!!
By the way - Marly's right! Your room is beautiful and cozy! Love it!

The room is much larger than I imagined. Love the little nook with the small beds! It looks like a lovely place for grandkids to stay. Is the room heated? Sure wish we had such a cozy and inviting place for guests. As usual, a great decorating job, Nancy.

Thankyou Girls, and Nini, thankyou for the bug info, and I still don't want any. And I almost forgot, yes that room is heated but I keep it very low in the winter.

I have HUGE black stinkbugs here, the only thing that kills them is a lizard, and they just bite off the head and leave the stinky body, Oh, and they also bite...

Oh, goodness.. I had no idea just how epidemic these little miseries are! You know, though, Bonnie - they may freeze, but if they can find a nook or crannie on the outside of your house to hibernate in all winter, they'll do so, and they'll be back. The first time we ever saw one was a couple of years ago in the dead of winter. It was below zero out, snowing like crazy, and suddenly this little shield shape critter loped up the curtain. I almost had a bird. Since then it has gotten worse - MUCH worse, but thankfully our sightings have been minimal (knock on wood) compared to others in our area!
