In two weeks I will be involved in my first ever Craft/Artist show. I have my very own booth to showcase Cross Stitching. No...I won't be selling just showing what I've stitched and offering to teach for those who want to learn. I know that there is for sure 11 ladies signed up to learn.
Still debating on what exactly to "kit up" for them to stitch. All lessons and supplies are free to those who are learning so I need to budget myself.
The show itself will feature every type of crafter and artist and many will be selling designs and or products.
I'm very nervous about it but in a good way.
Also any advice on setting up a table as in decorating and such I would be forever grateful.
hugs, -missy-

Missy, My hubby and I have done many, many craft shows and we have a vendor booth (our crafts) at our local Farmers Market. I can tell you that DISPLAY is EVERYTHING!! Tablecloths to cover the table all the way to the floor in front and on ends so that you can stash your bins, boxes, etc. underneath and it's not seen as it usually is unattractive. I like to use more than one tablecloth and layer them, putting the top on one "catty-whompus". Easel type stands to display things in a more vertical position, as opposed to laying flat. Attractive baskets for this and that. Of course, it's up to your likes/tastes and what you're displaying. If possible and it fits, a vase of flowers on one corner of your table. I hope that helps . . . Wishing you the best! CJ

I have also done many shows, some for selling and some for demos or static displays.
Do what Ceejay says for covering your table. But if you're teaching, don't put too much on your table unless it's related to what you are doing. It's a distraction.
Also, try to keep things organized in boxes or totes. If you are doing kits, keep the kits separate from everything else, so that you can reach in and grab one. Put your demo stuff in a different container.
Just my two-cents worth.

Good luck, Missy. I agree with the other girls, organize what you need in baskets under the table. Keep us posted on how everything goes. Marly

Missy, I agree with CJ and Phyllis. I have done a few craft shows also. I mainly sell aprons, quilts and home decor. Make it attractive, layer tables, I use wicker baskets to diplay some items that are smaller and invert them with the item on top. The aprons and quilts I hang up on a clothesline that I have tied up on the inside of my canopy. I does get noticed with them flapping in the breese. Laurie

Above all just remember to have fun & enjoy yourself.......Your happy smile will draw people over to you...if you are having fun they will also :)....don't stress the little things, also have a comfortable chair since you will be sitting a lot.......also something to drink & nibble on when you need it..... if you have business cards put them where the people can take them without reaching over a bunch of stuff.....maybe put them in 2 different places on your table.........Michele'
