I have a hexagon pattern that I think is very easy. And the yarn I use for it is simply soft by caron. It only takes three skeins of it. Shoot me an email if your interested in it and I will mail you a copy.

www.crochetpatterncentral.com also has a bunch of free patterns. As a matter of fact, I was just looking at them this morning! Trying to find something to make for a friends upcoming bundle of joy.

I agree on ravelry too. I find a lot of free patterns on there. Also, library crochet books are a wonderful source too.

You can also do a simple granny square, and just keep adding rows until your afghan is big enough. This is also a great stash buster.
