I keep trying to post a picture of the beautiful fan that Malena aka desperadosdream sent me. It is gorgeous! I love and will cherish it for many Thanksgivings to come. Thank you Malena. I will not give up until I can post a picture.
Time to call upon my high tech 8year old grandaughter. LOL!

Yay! I did it!!!!! I just forgot to add the text. LOL! Isn't this fan gorgeous? I love it. What is really cool, is that Malena crocheted the white trim you see at the top and bottom. Also she crocheted the ribbon on the back to hold it all together.
Beautiful job Malena! I hope you like yours, I am still trying to hook the ribbon on the back side. Hopefully it will be in Monday's mail. I will e-mail you when I mail out.
Blessings and Hugs and many many thank you's for my lovely fan. Buzzn Bee
I will try to post another pic of the backside.
Yay! Now how do I get the stamped date off the pic? Where is that grandchild when you need her? LOL! |

My fans are in the works...I fell while visiting my grandbabies and it has really stove me up!! Old Arthur in the joints doesn't like it when we shake him up. I will have mine out the week of the 12th for sure. Don't like much having them done...Smiles, Beth

Hi Beth, don't worry about it! No rush - recovery is your first priority :) I will be putting the finishing touches on mine tonight and with any luck (if everything sticks and dries okay!), I'll be mailing mine out to you this weekend or Monday at the latest. I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Darlene :) Actually with the weight & thickness, there is no need to attach ribbon, so she has it attached by a lovely rhinestone bobble ;) It is so pretty, I will cherish it !!!! I use fans all the time so this one is just perfect for my winter use :)

Hi Beth, I regret to say that I did not take a picture of the fan before I packaged it up - I was in a bit of a hurry to leave the house! But I will describe it for you ladies - I used a darker red card stock on both sides, stamped the blades with a gold wheat design and embossed each one. The "handles" (or lower part of each blade) I made out of our wedding invitation stock - a shimmery chocolate/copper color. There were 14 blades in this fan because I saw many museum photos of brise fans with this number of blades, and I wanted to give the full "fan" effect :) To tip the blades with something fun, I also stamped and embossed a gold "bubble" type design at the top of each blade. I found pheasant feathers at my local craft store and glued 3 of those to the back of each blade, so they decorate the top of the fan and give it some flirting potential! Also, when the sun hits them you can see their iridescence, which I thought was very cool. I was disappointed to find that my fan was a bit floppy and I wanted to be able to actually fan it out and use it. So this is the least decorative part of the fan (and they could probably be painted to match the fan color), but I also glued popsicle sticks to the back of each blade to reinforce them. Lastly I held them all together with a dark brown grosgrain ribbon at the back, and a burgundy tassel at the bottom. Overall I was very pleased with the effect! It ended up being a tad thick with the popsicle sticks added, but I like that it is functional - maybe for a costume party, Beth, if you end up attending one! - and it would look great displayed in a shadowbox too. I'm looking forward to receiving yours, Beth!!!

Oh that fan sounds so pretty! You sure put a lot of work into it Kate. Nice job!
I wanted to get my fan out to Nini and forgot to take a picture of it. I usually take pictures of everything but haven't been using my camera lately and forgot... fooy... oh well next time. darlene
