Saw these on some site and thot about the farmgirls.......
Don't you just love old vintage fans from long ago..Something so lovely and romantic about them!! Well here we go!
PARTNERS;
Beth Jones~~Kate Peikin Beth Jones~~Judith Lickteig fille de ferme~~Alissa Carmany buzzn bee~~Malena Hunger Nini Betters~~Darlenelovesart
What you will do is make a fan from lightweight cardboard, like cereal boxes.. You will make 5 blades for the fan, Cover the back and the front with scrapbook paper, decorating the back and the front, edge the edges with a marker or stamp pad. Decorate the fan as you would with lace or any embellishments. Make it Thanksgiving looking, using paper, turkeys emblems, etc When finished, lay out like a fan spread out would be and glue ribbon on the back of the fan so it can be gathered up or spread out. Using a hole punch, punch a hole in the bottom part of the fan and tie a ribbon or a tassel.. I will have the pattern for the fan blade...You will cut out 5 blades and decorate the back and the front!
Email me your address when you sign up and I will mail out a pattern to you.
This is fun, I made one to see how it turned out and it is really fun.
Happy Crafting......Sign up ends October 10th........Send out time will be November 5th...When you receive the pattern, begin making the blades and it will go faster!
Do your best work and please, if you cannot carry thru, put a note on this swap site...Smiles

Alright Beth I am in on this one because I love fans but I'm a bit iffy on "professional" looking it might look when done. Perhaps a bit like it was made by a 3 yr old cobbler but I am up for the challenge.
Carpe Diem !

Oh my gosh, Beth! You know, when we were kids, a good friend of mine took a summer camp class about the language of fans! I just had to share this with you all:
http://www.minuetcompany.org/furtherinformation/fanlanguage.html
When she got back, she and I practiced for days, imagining we were a couple of Grande Dames at Versailles... LOL! Little girls - too much!
This really brings back such wonderful memories! Please count me in, too! I'm emailing you now!
Thank you!!!

Hi Nini That language of fans was cute. I didn't know that there were so many ways to say something with a fan. Thanks darlene

I would love to participate, Beth! Some of my favorite historical fiction books to read are from the time period when "the language of the fan" was used (Regency era), so I am going to do my best to make one that is romantic and feminine-looking, with fall colors (I promise, no hokey stuff!). Excited for my first swap

Oh NO, Darlene!! it is just cutting out the shape of a fan blade, which I will send a pattern for you to go by or tweek to your liking. Cut from cereal boxes, etc cover with scrapbook paper, embellish like we do the ATC cards and glue together with ribbon in the shape of a fan. It really isn't hard at all!! Smiles, Beth
