Never heard of the book, Amy. But, I'll check it out. Thanks.

I reserved it at the library. I am number 4 in line. So I am waiting for it now. I'll post when I read it.

It's on my list, too. The story sounds interesting to me, but I'm a real baby when it comes to on-screen violence so I think I might enjoy the book more than the film.

Me too. One of the characters gets his throat slashed and I don't think I could watch that. He lives thru iit, but that is too much for me. LOL

Plus there is nudity, and I won't watch that.

OK gals. I got the book and sat down and read the whole dang thing. I couldn't put it down. I just had to know what happened next. It is kind of strange because it goes between the time it happened and when there was a trial some years later. Wild stuff. Men, alchol, and money. Bad combo. Some of the paybacks are really nasty.

My Mom asked me if I liked the book. I don't really know what to say. But I had to know what happened next. It does fit the time frame.

If you have read it or seen the movie, what do you think?

We just watched the movie last night. It reminded me I have yet to read the book.

Well, it truly depicts that time and era. It does contain a bit of nudity and of course violence etc. It was a tough time for families to simply earn a paycheck. I can't imagine putting kids through those times and risking their lives for such a thing either. It's truly about how people in one community support each other when they are faced with a threat on their community. Despite their business.

I did order the book again. I'm hoping to read it during these snowed in days.

I think books are always better. Movies cut out so much. Our library is still closed for the holiday, so I hope to get a copy of the book soon.

I picked up the book today. I hope to get time to read it. I have to finish another order for car washcloths, and then I can focus on it better.

I got the book again from the library. Wow! It is better than the movie. What a rough lifestyle they had. Golly.

Didn't read the book but saw the movie. It was pretty good. Would like to read the book. I googled all the info about the family too. MB
