I just received a copy of that quintessential children's book "Millions of Cats" by Wanda Gag that I ordered for my boys - I remember reading it at my grandparents' house, and my mother remembers reading it, too, when she was little. Now, my little boy just LOVES it. It is such a good book, and the drawings are amazing.

Anybody else remember, "Hundreds of cats, Thousands of cats, Millions and Billions and Trillions of cats!"?

XOXO, Libbie

I've seen that book but it was really old. Where did you get one? I'd like to get it for my grandkids.

I found it on Amazon.com - it's a reprint of the 1928 classic - I just love it!

ha! i need to get that one .. for i fear that "MISS LILY" is going to keep having babies and dragging them down the hill to live with us!

Actually, while we were gone .. she ventured BACK UP the hill to her own house and i think she must have taken her kittens with her .. because i have not seen 'hide nor hair' of them since coming home. LILY has been down for a little nosh now and then though! The book sounds dear .. i will look for it when antiquing from now on! xo

Me too! Me too! I just ordered it from Amazon. I don't remember that book, but I bet both my five year old daughter and I will love it. I'm one of those people who, if my husband would let me, would have a million cats...or, at least twenty. (He, by the way, dislikes cats and so far, four cats has been the highest number he'd agree to! I'm working on him though...)

When I went up to visit my parents last weekend, I **gulp** forgot to bring our copy of "Millions of Cats." It was a near tragedy, but my dad, angel that he is, went to the big bookstore close to their house and bought ANOTHER copy, stealthily slid it into my bag, and, voila! It appears that I have it all together as a mom... Aren't parents wonderful sometimes? And now, I have a copy to keep up there for just such an emergency in the future.

I sure hope that you all and your little ones like this book as much as we do. The words are so lyrical, too - it's a Newberry Honor book, just FYI.
