has anyone done this?..if so do you need to cook the pumpkin first or can you just peel it & make thin slices & dry....I don't have the space to can pumpkin while I am in NY nor will I have a freezer so would really love to know if this can be done so I don't waste my time & energy to try it & have it fail...thanks hens...Michele'

I did this with a couple of Halloween pumpkins last year. Granted, I made them as dog treats, but they did dry very well. I just thin sliced them, skin on. They shrink up like you wouldn't believe! The dogs loved them and they're so much better for them than store-bought stuff from China. I'm wondering if you could bake them in the oven, then dry the puree like you would fruit leather?

Thank you very much Melina, that is wonderful so now I know I can try this.....i hope to do a couple of sugar pumpkins this way then grind in into powder to add to the Chickens warm oatmeal breakfasts this winter......plus now I can also dry them over the woodstove as well so thank you very very much for telling us this....Michele'
