As we're settling into life in California, I'm finally starting plans for some urban gardening. We have a small patio with a couple beds...right now I have tomatoes, a small orange tree, roses, and I added some nasturtiums for the humming birds. I'd like to expand quite a bit, and optimize for space, but I'm intimidated because I have never seen so many black widow spiders in my life! At night, they come out, and we've counted up to 10 at once...and it's not a big patio!! We had these when I lived in Idaho, but only occasionally... not so many! I don't want to use chemical pesticides, but I want them gone! The prospect of a deadly bite isn't worth extra produce, lol...
Any suggestions on how to get them to pack up and move out?
