Howdy Farmgirls!

In honor of MaryJanes new book ,
Glamping with MaryJane
(http://www.amazon.com/Glamping-MaryJane-Glamour-Camping-Butters/dp/1423630815)

The River Valley Farmgirls
Invite You To

A Glamping Adventure
on my farm!

Bring your tents, your campers and join in on the fun!
September 13-16th, 2012

This is the same weekend as the Junk Bonanzahttp://junkbonanza.com/, as well as our local "Farm Pride" parade on Saturday. We will be marching farmgirl style in the parade and spreading the farmgirl love to all around us. No matter what, we'll be having a blast hanging out the rest of the weekend on our farm.

*It's primitive glamping as we aren't set up to run electricity and water to all your beautiful campers, but we think you might be able to rough it for a few days of fun! :) There are also local hotels and b&b's if you'd rather glamp that way too! Tents are also another option, as that is what me and my girls will be doing that weekend!

*We have a water hydrant for you to get water, but bring a filter for drinking! :)

*Bring your portable loo if you have one! Don't know what that is? Take a look at the MJ Glamping book! or go here: http://www.target.com/p/reliance-luggable-loo-portable-toilet/-/A-10305843 or here:http://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Luggable-Portable-Gallon/dp/B000FIAPXO or here: http://www.nitro-pak.com/portable-loo-kit

*Please let me know if you are a strong yes or maybe. So I can tell the mister what we're looking at! :)

ACTIVITIES:
Junkin' at the JUNKBONANZA on Friday - http://junkbonanza.com/

Checkin' out local antique and boutique stores along the way.

Enjoyin' the Dozinky Festival on Saturday and marching in the parade farmgirl style! http://www.newprague.com/dozinky/

Glampin' it up! Glamper Tours and Awards! Time to get your "Glam" on!

CLASSES/WORKSHOPS:
Beginning Drop-Spindle Spinning Class - taught by our Alpaca lovin' local farmgirls.

Tarning and Beginning Crochet Class - taught by Diane aka "fiddleheadfarm"

Dutch Oven Cooking - Get your dutch ovens ready, we'll be learning some new campfire cooking recipes/skills!!!

Mug Rugs - Use those scraps of fabric up and make a cute rug for your mug!

Bee Tours - wanna see a real working bee hive? Get an up close and personal tour of our 2 hives here on the farm.

MEALS:

Classic Camp Food - make your own meal in classic camping fashion!

Dutch Oven Potluck - try out your dutch oven skills and serve up something tasty for all us girls to share!

Dinner Under the Stars - enjoy a luxurious "Glamping Under the Stars" dinner with April and her family.

Sunday Afternoon Picnic - bring your blanket, your basket and some grub! Enjoy your last meal of the weekend picnic style.

***All other meals are on your own. You can make them or eat out. It's up to you!***

Farmgirl Hugs,

April

Oh man....I really really want to come. Definitely a maybe here. I wanna see my sweet friend, Diane, in person and meet all my other farmgirls sisters too! I think if we get our minivan replaced and I can get my friend, Tracy, to come with me I might be a yes. How soon do you need to know for absolute sure? I think the junk bonanza would throw Tracy over the edge :) Where exactly in MN are you so I can see how many hours of driving it will be?

Siobhan,

We would love to have you come join us! We are located 45 miles south/west-ish of Minneapolis. I hope you can swing it and your van can make the trek! It would be amazing to meet you in person! :)

Siobhan,
I would love for you and your friend, Tracy to come! You could meet me in Janesville and then we can caravan together. I will have my tear drop camper that also has a huge side tent so there would be plenty of room for you both if you are not bringing your camper. The River Valley Farmgirls are the best and April's family is awesome! The Junk Bonanza and parade sound like farmgirl heaven.

Diane,

I really want to go and I think Tracy wants to go. Now I have to convince hubby and that's coming down to the $$$ because he and I really need to get away because we haven't all summer because of the house purchase that we've been involved in since May. And we can't really afford both a girl trip AND a hubby/wife trip at this moment, so it's gonna come down to me figuring the numbers and seeing if that's possible with our budget. I really want to bring my camper because she's never been glamping yet and that's what she's always been destined to do, but that's pretty much going to double my gas expense. Still, it's only 10 hours, which is better than most of the farmgirl fun that always happens way out west. I know he really wants me to go because Ive been dreaming of doing something like this ever since I got my first MJF magazine 3 years ago and it's just never been financially feasible for us. Who knows though, maybe the insurance settlement will come in high for our minivan and I will have a little extra left over after we purchase a new one? I will just have to pray about it and work out the numbers and if it's meant to happen, then it will happen, right? :)

Siobhan,
I will be praying also. I know you and hubby need a break, but you need one before your 4th son is born! It would be so great if you can make it! I would really like for us to hook up in Southern WI and drive up the rest of the way together. Keep me posted.

sumtins beats the heck outta nottins! lol!
>^..^<

funny, I have 2 hymalyn kitties..(ok, so they are mature 10 & 13yr olds)...who I shave 3x a year... I have always wanted to brush & save their hair/fur to be spun into fiber...but these 2 little stinkers HATE to be brushed, so it's just eaiser to shave them... instant naked kitties ( & less hairballs in their tummy!)!lol!

Many years ago, one of my friend's mom brushed & saved their Samoyed's (dog) fur for years and years,,, when the sweet old thing (dog..not mom) passed over the Rainbow Bridge, the mom had all the bags of fur, nearly 10 shopping sacks full, spun and then knitted into a lap afgahn....
ok, funny thought... an Afgahn made from a Samoyed...lol!
I figure you will get a chukle out of that Diane :>)

Grace,
I was at a yarn tasting event (no we don't really taste it!) and saw a lady spinning her Samoyed dogs hair. She also had lots of mittens and hats made from the dog yarn! It was really soft. My doggies better look out if I learn to spin!

I wish I was better skilled at crocheting,,,, I looked at and re-looked at the hat pattern you sent my last year,,,but I never did get around to testing my skills to make one.... bummer....

Maybe this Winter, I'll pull the pattern out agine and re-think.... :>)

So excited about this trip! I have been glamping up my little tear drop trailer for the occasion. My most recent project is a crocheted rug made from Tarn (T-shirt yarn)! It is really working up fast and I was able to find enough old T-shirts in my stash to make it in my trailers colors. Here is a picture of it half done. I did this whole thing during a storm yesterday!

Oh Boy, what fun! Please count me in as a definite. My tiny little Coachmen, Chicklet, will be accompanying me. What fun to find some camping Farmgirls so close to me! (I'm in St. Paul, formerly known as "Pig's Eye".) Do you need help with anything?
