My Puppy has something going on with her eye. water no real goo itchy and just messy. I have been doing warm water compress and flushing with Saline any more ideas. I was thinking an antibiotic ointment like neosporin.

Could be a clogged tear duct--it happens and what you're doing sounds good for that. I wouldn't put ointment in the eye because they're not for occular use. If it's still going tomorrow, I'd call the vet--don't want the little thing to lose sight, and depending on what it is, it's a possibility.

What kind of dog? My little shih-tzu gets an icky eye infection every so often. It is because they have an inner eyelid.....or something like that. Don't quote me....I work on teeth all day not eyes.
anyway, I usually get drops from the vet. They always double check to see if it is the same kind of infection. They told me if you are not careful dogs can go blind very easily with the wrong kind of drops or ointments.
I would go to the vet.....

Looks to be getting better it is her eye lid like maybe a sting or bite.
Warm compresses really seem to help.
I am really watching and actually have an apt for the vet Tomorrow.

Get a little tube of terramycin ointment . You can get it at a feed store. I've used it for cats, dogs, goats horses it might clear it right up. It also might be from an eyelash that turns in. Terramycin helps that too. It's worth a try and cheaper than a vet bill, although I have paid $17 for a little tube of it before. But it really is worth it.

Actually I also have used neosporin in my horses eye and it helped a lot. It was at a vet's reccomendation.

This exactly. We use teramycin as a first treatment in all of our animals. I have used it in rabbits, mice, dogs, cats, horses, cattle, goats, pigs, pigeons & ferrets without any problems at all. They have had a shortage the last couple years so it's kinda hard to find. Here's a link with info on it. She did get to see the Vet and she has a scratch but nothing else and is doing good.

Definitly never use anything that is not rated specifically for eyes. A friend of mine knew a horse breeder that did that to a filly and it actually caused damage to her eye and glaucoma.

Please DO NOT use the ointment. You should only use what a vet prescribes. Could just be something simple that could take a bad turn trying to fix on your own.
I'm so busy I don't know if I just found a rope or lost my horse! |
