My heart goes out to all affected by these fires. I have lived thru them, and it is so terrifying. Please all of you who live where there is dry grass or timber, please work on defensible space. Keep those weeds down, clean up pine needles and limbs, keep what water you have running. Be ever vigilant.

Greetings from the morning side of the hill.

Yes, our Waldo Canyon Fire is now 18,500 acres, 300+ homes lost, so sad. I am fine and I believe our wonderful fire fighters are getting a handle on this fire. My prayers for their continued safety, they are my heroes!
Thanks Connie for posting the photo.
Hugs,
Debbie

I just had to share this with all of you.
This is just one of the many, many reasons firefighters are my heroes. This was on our local news last night from our Waldo Canyon Fire. Bought tears to my eyes, what a great firefighter he is.
Hugs,
Debbie

I too saw this and another picture of this sweet baby and I sat here and cried. Since this fire started on Saturday, I've had a huge knot in my stomach. The count tonight is 346 homes lost and one of my favorite fun places, the Flying W Ranch. Have you been there Debby? It was wonderful.
Thankfully, my son lives on the east side of the Springs, so he and his family will be ok. My heart breaks for all who lost their homes and the beautiful area they called home.

Luanne, I am so happy to hear that your is safe as well, such a devastating fire it breaks my heart too. Yes, I have been fortunate to have visited the Flying W Ranch many years ago, so sad to see a part of history just wiped out. But, they have vowed to rebuild as has many others, I keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
The smoke smell is very heavy today but no smoke, we continue to pray for a good long, hard rain.
We now have 1 confirmed dead and one missing, just so horrific.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern as we continue to keep everyone especially the firefighters all over the country putting their lives on the line everyday for us in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,
Debbie

After having seen pictures of the Colorado fire, I don't know what those homeowners could have done to protect their property. They have green lawns, paved spaces around their homes, and paved roads all around. All the things one is supposed to do.

Greetings from the morning side of the hill.

Blessings to you all, keep safe ok.
Do they know if it was set or lightning or just hot and dry combustible?
My prayers are with you and the firefighters, God Bless totally.

Hello Everyone, good news, The Waldo Canyon Fire is 45% contained and Hwy 24 going in and out of our Mountain communities will open at 1pm after being closed one week. Not all lanes open and lower speed limits as our firefighters are still out there protecting and fighting the fire for us, but we are so very happy that it is open and evacuees will be along home up and down Hwy 24, fabulous news! Everyone is still under pre evacuation orders but for now all will be allowed to go home so we are so happy for them.
Thank you for all your prayers, please continue to keep all those firefighters in your thoughts, hearts and prayers, as Debbie (buzzn bee) said the firefighters are wore out, there are over 1200 firefighters still fighting the Waldo Canyon Fire and they work 16-20 hours a day, firefighters are coming in from all over the United States to relieve them and the heat of course is unbearable for all of them. God Bless All of them.
No word yet on how the fire was started it is still to hot in the center of the fire (the origin) to get the investigators in, but hopefully they will be able to go in soon to start their investigations.
Have a beautiful day everyone.
Hugs,
Debbie

Everyone in Colorado seems to be on their guard right now. Although I noticed there are still people throwing ciggy butts out their car windows. Our small Flaggstaff fire just outside Boulder Co was a bit scary. We had a lot of smoke at our house in Longmont from both it and the High Park fire in Ft Collins. My sister who lives in Boulder was on pre evacuation alert. Thank you to all our hard working firefighters!!

My daughter, Robin, and I were in Walmart in Cortez, CO last night around 9:30 PM for a few things for our glamping trip. There were about 12-15 members of the Yukon Fire Crew there . . . all the way from Alaska!! One of the guys said they were on the Escarpment Fire which was on the Mesa Verde right nearby. They looked tired and grubby . . . ready for a break! We thanked them as we passed by them.

I am still continuing my prayers for you all so that they will all be put out soon. I heard that it was it was getting a little bit more humid there. I just pray that they will be out soon and everyone who can, be able to get back to their homes soon and pray that the ones who lost them will be taken care of fast. Take care ladies....

My daughter and I are tent glamping right now just 35 miles from my house up the Dolores River. We received some nice mountain showers today and I'm hoping that more of the state did as well. It has been TOTALLY REFRESHING!!!!!

More rain in our campground on the 4th and yesterday was even more. The monsoon season has started and we had more clouds, less wind and lower temps today. Things are a bit improved!
Thank you Lord!
