********************UPDATE*****************************************
Springer Fire
6/18/2012 450 acres this AM Hot, Dry and Very Windy today.
Will keep all of you posted. Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern.

The Lake George fire has grown to over 200 acres and it has jump the South Platte River. Evacuations within a 5 mile radius. (not me)
Need the winds to die down, they have helicopters (not my hubby) and tankers on it now. Will keep everyone posted as I know more.

Colorado Farmgirls please check in, there is a big fire as every knows in Ft. Collinks Colorado. We now have in the 11 mile reservoir Lake George area right now and they are evacuating 11 mile campground. Subdivisions in the area are on alert for evacuation. This is the next town over from me, close but not real close that we are in any danger.
We have Marilyn in Florissant, (she is fine, just talked to her) Nana Shirl in Kit Carson, CO, Grace in Larkspur, CJ is in Durango, we have Kathleen L. in Denver as well as a few other girls.
Connie has family in Loveland, CO. Any other Colorado Farmgirls that I have missed or am unaware of could you all check in and let us know you are alright.
I am starting this thread at the request of a farmgirl who is worried about all of us. Thank you Sherry.
Please keep everyone in your prayers especially all our firemen and women across the United States fighting fires.
Hugs,
Debbie

Thanks Debbie and thanks Sherry!
Actually I'm 50 miles west of Durango, which is way in the southwest corner of the state. We do not have any major fires in this part of the state at this time, BUT it is hotter than normal for this area and VERY, VERY dry!!!

Fire is a TERRIBLE thing! We lost our home and wooded area around it in an arson fire in July 1994, so we know, ALL TOO WELL that horrible trauma. I've watched it happen!! I'm praying for lives, for workers and for displaced families. It's a HUGE thing!
The fire near Ft. Collins has destroyed 55,000 acres and almost 200 homes and is billed as the most destructive wildfire in the history of Colorado.

I'M PRAYING . . . !!

I have an old friend, even though we haven't been in touch for ages now, who used to live in an area that is being evacuated. (Mill River, near Lory State Park outside of Bellvue.) Last time I heard from her she still owned the house but was living in the southwestern part of Colorado.

I always have the Interagency Fire Center's website bookmarked. Here is a link to it: http://www.nifc.gov/fireInfo/nfn.htm

Stay safe everyone!

And, dear Debbie is probably the closest one to the Springer Fire. Just talked to her and she is waiting and watchful, prepared to evacuate if necessary.
My daughter and I still plan to go visit her, leaving here on Wednesday. However, we may need to change our plans.
I'm just concerned for Debbie and her community.

Our farmgirl friend, Marilyn, is further east of Debbie and this fire, but she lives in the mountains as well.

I'M PRAYING!!

I looked on the map and it shows that Wiggins is 1 1/2 hours from Ft. Collins. So, I am sure they are getting a lot of the smoke from the fire.
Hope this helps.
Hugs,
Debbie

Debbie, I will be praying for you during this wildfire scare. You can come down to Louisiana and stay with us for a while. It's rained for four days, so you won't have to worry about fires.
Good luck to you and all who are involved. My heart goes out to all of you. Hugs to all.

Waiting for the morning update on the fire Lake George/Springer Fire, they are having their briefing now and should know more soon.
The smoke and smell is strong in the air, and it will hot, dry and windy today. But thank goodness no more new evacuations, but 0% containment.
Ft. Collins fire still bad with more homes lost, it will be weeds before this fire is out, please continue to remember all evacuees, firemen and women in your prayers.
Thanks so much everyone for you concern and prayers.
Hugs,
Debbie

I was able to get in touch with my friend in Colorado and she is again living in the house outside of Fort Collins!!! When I heard from her a couple of days ago she said the fire was THREE HUNDRED FEET from her house!!! She and her dog are safe and staying with friends in Fort Collins and she says a lot of her stuff is out of her house because she's renovating.

I have found memories of sitting on her flagstone deck looking down into the green space on the other side of her back fence. The red rock hillsides were green with vegetation. I know that fire is a natural part of the ecosystem but it is so scary and life altering.

Thank you ever so much everyone for your concern, love and support. Nothing new except our fire (Springer Fire) is 10% contained, at 1100 acres. A lot less smoke near me today as it is all in the valley. Nice to open up some windows and get a breeze going through the house as it has been so hot.
Still planning on CJ and daughter Birdie coming tomorrow, Marilyn and I have been waiting a long time for this visit. We will all be fine and all will be well.
Grace happy to here you are alright and I appreciate all our Colorado girls checking in a keeping contact with us.
Karin I am happy to your friend is safe.
Hugs,
Debbie
