I'm in such high cotton right now!!

Hubby and I have a small booth at the local consignment store and up to this point, it hasn't been going well. We got really discouraged for a good long while and basically resigned that we'd just finish out the contract and call it a day.

Well, we went down this morning to pay our monthly bill...and...turns out we'd sold quite a bit and it's only the 11th of the month!! We still have the rest of the month to go!!

Yay, us!! So, now we're hunting about for more things to sell. We had been garage sale-ing but didn't want to buy too much and be stuck with things. Well, I guess we shoulda bought more! So, now we're pumped about the booth. Just have to find things to sell!

YAY!!!!!

Congratulations Janet, it is the summer season so you will do well I believe. Isn't it fun shopping for all the treasures? Have fun, and continued success.

What great news, Winona. I am so happy for you. It really helps to get some encouragement now and again and cold hard cash can be quite a bit of encouragement. Good luck in your search for more merchandise.

Thank you, everyone!! We sold some more stuff this morning, before we got there. Yay!! A lady, whom I get on with very well, came over to give us some pointers and how she got started, what she has learned. I looked her booth over very well, plus her half booth. Now, I know what to look for when garage sale-ing. She also clued us in on furniture, too. Alrighty, then!! Maybe this whole thing won't be a total wash after all! I'm now brimming with ideas!! Fingers crossed we don't muck it up...heh....

Hi Winona :) Congratulations ! Can I give A little advice ? Do your homework. Surf the internet & see what is selling well in your area. That way you will not be stuck with unwanted things. I found this approach so much more profitable ;) Also, if it is your own booth, decorate it, make it eye appealing, using your items. This also helps sales ;) I wish you GOOD fortune & LUCK :)

Darlene, if and when I learn something, I'll pass it on to you! Yesterday, she was the master and I was the grasshopper.

Madeline, thank you. I woke up in the middle of last night thinking along similar lines about decorating. I'm sort of having a tuff time surfing the net, finding values. I have used Ebay a lot but I seem to have things that aren't close to anything. Do you have another site I could peruse to hopefully find similar values??

Hi,
I know what you mean, I have gone on Ebay alot with things that I have gotten and not finding the same things, even researching other sites with the same thing happening. I wonder how I keep finding single items....Once in awhile I get lucky, it makes it hard to price things. I am still in the learning stage but I want to get beyond that, I want to sell the stuff. Thanks

Thanks Madeline for the suggestions of what is selling in my area, I will try that.

hugs darlene

Darlene, I also have wondered how I'm finding single items, nothing like them on Ebay. I try to find the producing company, go to their site and root around. However, some things, the producing company is out of biz, has been for years. So, I guess it's hit or miss. If it sells too quickly (Yay??), maybe the price was too low (??) and if it doesn't sell quickly, maybe the price is too high?? Who knows. But hubby reminded me, when I used to buy and sell horses, I made WAY more money on selling lower priced horses and moving 'inventory', than trying to sell the $15,000 show horse. So, I'm going to try to model my booth on selling horses, if that makes sense.

I agree with you on that so when you do find something you want to sell on Ebay and maybe there is several with a wide range of prices which do you go with?
I really want to learn the right way of doing this.
Thanks so much for your information.
