Thought I picked enough dandelions to make this. They started closing up before I could get the petals off. Took almost 2 hours to get a cup. Put the removed petals in the fridge. Hoping to get more tomarrow. For as long as this is taking me, I hope it's worth the effort.

I've made 12 jars of it this year so far. We had an early spring, so I don't know if I will get more dandelions. I am hoping for one more batch.

I just canned coffee jelly too.

I have a bunch in the freezer waiting until I get enough money to get liquid pectin and sugar! I also have a stockpile of violets in the freezer too!

Supposed to rain this week. Maybe I'll put them in the freezer tonight where I couldn't get more. Liquid pectin is only like $3.50 or so for a 2 pack box. I've got to check my jelly lids to see what I need.

Krystle, when I make my dandelion jelly, I use regular powdered pectin, and it turns out fine. Liquid pectin and I do not get along very well. So, if you have the sugar and the powdered pectin...

I agree- I have trouble with the liquid pectin too. The powder worked great with my dandelion (and violet) jellies this year! Love the photo of the kids helping, btw. I had my son and husband's help this year

I have never tried either jelly. Is it the flowers you use on either one?

Yep - you use the flowers. When I do my dandy's I snip the yellow parts off with scissors into a large measuring cup.

Sadly, ours is all gone, and my extras have all found homes as gifts for friends and some new neighbors. Will be waiting impatiently for new ones next spring...

I have my kids snip off just the yellow parts and then we make a "tea" of them and make the jelly from that

We have had an extra big "crop" of dandelions this year and I have made several batches...always a hit!

Ok, made my dandelion and voilet jelly. Tastes great! The problem is, I only got 2 pints of each out of the required amounts of petals and flowers. I had to let it boil longer so that it would gel up. Yes, I did use the liquid pectin. Ball canning says not to interchange liquid and powder pectin. If you do change from liquid to powder, how do you adjust the amounts? Don't know what I did wrong that I came up with so little amount.

I double the pectin too. I use the recipe here http://www.prairielandherbs.com/dandelionjelly.htm
and double everything.
