Ok, I finally could not wait for my latest MJF issue to arrive and ordered another one which got here today. It is absolutely lovely. (By the way, there is a small sidebar with my daughter as a DAiry Maid on page 133. Check it out). I had checked out the local (! !?@ hours away) Borders store last week, and they were SOLD OUT of the altest issue already (only two weeks from receiving it and it was gone already).
I was fortunate to receive an apron pattern in the Budget Mix I ordered this spring. I made Maddie, my daughter, one up in a farm print to wear to dairy promtions in our area as a Wayne County Dairy Maid. I just love aprons and wear one when I do serious baking. I'm thinking of wearing one for hand sewing projects to keep my scissors handy. (I read that in the new issue by one woman and thought that was perfect.)
There are some terrific FREE apron patterns in this issue So, not only did I order more issues to give to my family (some of the women actually sew, too), I ordered TWO APRON PATTERNS because I could not resist them. I can't wait to try them out. I must have 5 apron patterns, used four of them, but I feel like you just can't have enough styles to choose from. I'm not quite ready to make up my own patterns. I don't have the time or patience for that yet.
I hope to get aprons made for gifts for Christmas this eyar. Can you imagine each woman opening a pretty apron, made with fabric to suit their own taste and style to match their own "look" on Christmas morning? I can just picture my MIL and two SIL's and two nieces and my daughter all opening one together. I'll have to make my own to open, though, unless my daughter gets the hint and works on one for me in her high school sewing class or 4H club.
Anyone else out there thinking of aprons for gifts? I loved the picture on the sitea few days ago and was so impressed by the style and pattern designed herself.

Clare,
I saw your daughter's picture! She is so pretty and the apron looks great. I may do what you are and make aprons for my reluctant, but up to the challenge, farmgirl friends. Everyone can use an apron, right?

I loved the picture of your daughter! How neat that she is a second generation farmgirl!! I got mine today too and can't wait to sit down and really read it cover to cover!!!

These magazines from MJF just get better and better, even though they stay with the same theme and products. That is so wonderful! I really want to sew some aprons, and the maternity apron was the best, even for those of us who have a little tummy as we age! :)

I heard the lady call back and say they received it two weeks ago. Hmmm. My poor mother has been calling all over for the latest issue. I finally gave up and just ordered directly from MJF and had them send out to 9 different family members directly and send me the other 12 copies. I am one of 14 children (13 now that my sister passed on in Jan) so there are quite a few to share them with. My DH has only 1 of each for siblings. Plus, I need to give to my MIL (she's the best MIL I could have asked for, taught me originally to can and cook homestyle stuff back when I first married my DH. They still milk cows, but I think they are selling them off soon for retirement.) and some special friends who will truly appreciate the magazine. I hope it will jump start my MJF club, The Busy Bees.
