All 18 of the new chicks made it through the night. The hen is very protective she is a Salmon Faverolle, and so are 9 of the chicks, the others are Ameraucana (hubby missed see green eggshells in the cartons). I put a heat lamp close to one corner of the pen and that seemed to wake up mama and she started pecking at the chick crumble. I have seen about half of them drinking water and running around. I can see little chickie feet at the front of her breast. So, all is well here on our little farm.
