I need the help of all you horse lovers out there! I am desperately trying to save the life of a 4 year old quarter horse gelding and I've got a week to do it. I've made arrangements to bring him to our place but this takes money. I am not asking for donations, but I am asking for you to check out my etsy shop this week. 100% of all sales will go towards saving Texas. The short story is that my husband was training him for some people who are very cruel and repeatedly whipped him. Hubby stopped working with them and they were asked to leave the boarding facility. We have one week to rescue him or he will likely be butcherd by the owners. Yes, it sounds horrible, but they feed horse meat to their dogs. All you have to do is check out my etsy shop...www.farmsteadorganics.etsy.com. Do some shopping and enter coupon code: SaveTex (coupon will save you 21% off your total purchase). I sell organic skin care and cosmetics with over 3000 sales and 100% + feedback. Thanks for helping! I'll post pictures of him on my facebook page when we get him home! http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Farmstead-Apothecary/190911550948889 |

Oh that is so sad. How much money do you need? I am broke right now but I may be able to help with some ideas. Do you need money to purchase him or are they giving him to you and you just need money for gas to transport. Maybe if you can at least get him into your name it will hold them off long enough for you to get the money to transport him. Sounds like they are abusing your heart also, my heart goes out to you Jennifer. Laura

Thanks, Laura! It does break my heart. He is such a sweet guy, and young still. He is going to make a fine horse. The money is for buying him...they won't give him away. It's also going to get his feet done, etc. and pay for boarding for one more month. We don't want to put him with our other ponies until we work with him more. I just don't want to see him destroyed. |

I had a horse named Tex that I rescued and sold just a couple of weeks ago. I had him for 5 years and broke him and rode him. He had been starved from weanling till 5 yrs old and I built up muscle on him and dealt with a lot of mental issues he had too. He was like riding a big foal, and hot blooded and crazy but he recovered well and I just sold him to a Navajo young lady that is going to barrel race him. She matches up to him real well cause she is high energy too and she fell in love with him. His high energy would wear out this ole lady. Anyway just wanted to share that with you and you can see him on our website below on the page for barrel horses. When I got him he was 15.2 and weighed only 750 lbs but now he is all filled out and healthy probably 1100 or 1200 lbs. He still doesn't have the endurance that I think he would have if he had been fed right in those early years, but I explained that to the young lady and she promised me she would not push him too hard. Of course I am comparing him to our other mountain raised horses so he is probably about average endurance for horses in general. I looked at your etsy store and I will try to get something soon. Our business is seasonal and is just now starting to pick up a little and I have 22 horses to feed right now. So they keep me pretty broke. I will also pray for your efforts Jennifer. Laura
