*** As of 6PM local time they have managed to put the fires out- there are still hotspots which they are watching, but Thank God, there were no casualties. We did loose a few homes and a business to the fires, but no loss of life or serious injuries to report so all in all, things turned out very well. Thank you all for your prayers!**
As I type this we have raging wildfires here on Long Island. The fire is burning in the Long Island Pine Barrens.
Over 2,000 acres have burned. One commerical building and 2 residences have been lost and 3 firefighters have been injured. Night has fallen and at this point they are hoping to "contain" the fires overnight, and begin battling it again as dawn breaks. This is all happening about 20-25 minutes or so from my home. We are far enough away not to feel threatened, but the hopes are that it does not "hop" the Long Island Expressway where many many more homes are located.
Please pray that they can contain the fire and get it under control. Your prayers would be appreciated!

Laurie, your fears are all too real. I hope you stay safe and your neighbors, too. I live in central Texas where the massive wild fires happened last summer and know your fear. Stay safe and help out those less fortunate than you.

So many fires! It's been really windy here, too. NJ has raging fires in their pine barrens. It's so dry....
