Those of you who know me well know I have a bunch of balls I'm juggling right now - master gardener, homeschool, the blog, and those pesky little things like laundry.

So God, in His infinite wisdom and sense of humor, planted a seed in my brain. Because as my aunt always says, if you want something done, you give it to a busy person because they know how to get things done.

As some of you may have heard, the town of Harrisburg, IL, was flattened about a month ago by an F4 tornado. That's the same size tornado that flattened Yazoo, MS, Joplin, MO, and Tuscaloosa, AL. FEMA turned the residents down for assistance. Yep, flat out told them no. Other towns in Michigan and Ohio got the same answer. Our governor, Governor Quinn, said "wait a minute!" and he appealed. But he lost. FEMA again said "no."

This has been on my heart just so heavily. And you know I'm not a farmgirl who will sit idly by (check out the craftivism challenges if you are interested). I remember reading about a lady who asked crafters to make sock monkeys for the kids who are now homeless in Texas after the wildfires. So God said to me "you could do sock bunnies for the kids in Harrisburg."

I need prayers, sisters, for logistics. I can post here and on my blog. I know my sisters and my readers/followers will make a boatload of bunnies. I can collect them at my house. I even found a name of a pastor at a church in Harrisburg (whom I'm calling today to see if they're even interested). How do I contribute my own skills, and coordinate everything else, and then finally, how do I get the bunnies to Harrisburg? Like I said - logistics. Feels kinda like a UPS commercial, huh?

So please pray. I know that if God brings you to it, He'll bring you through it. I'm just trying to honor His will here.

Thanks ladies, and have a great day!

Bless your soul Ann. What a wonderful way to be "busy"!
I wouldnt doubt that perhaps if you contacted a local "fed ex" ground service and explained what you are trying to do that perhaps they would deliver them for free or a minimal charge. Most Fed Ex Ground routes are privately owned, kind of like a franchise of sorts, and I would bet that there is a driver out there who also has a heart of gold like yours!
Thank you for being you!
Hugs,

So, I took a chance on the name of a church in the Huffington Post article. Called them this morning, and talked to a wonderful lady named Mabel. If we can get the bunnies to them, they will take care of the rest. This is what happens when you speak God's name to a mountain - it crumbles down to the ground.

I posted this as a craftivism challenge in the Stitching forum - please come take a look if you'd like to help. Rather than have folks ship the bunnies to me, and then ship them again to the church, I posted the church's address.

We'll see what the Lord does next...

Thanks for your continued prayer!

The sock bunny tutorial is up on the blog for those who'd like to make one or a dozen. We've got 7 done, only 93 to go. There's also a glove bunny, if you'd rather make one of them instead.

We are simply looking for any handcrafted (knit, crochet, sew, etc.) bunny. Each bunny must be sent in a plastic bag (to keep them clean), labeled "Ages 3 and under" or "Ages 4+". Those bunnies that have button eyes and other choking hazzards should be marked for the over 4 crowd. Also, these little hoppers need to be mailed directly to the church no later than Monday, and should be sent Priority Mail, just in case. The church's address is on my blog, and also here on the forum in the Stitching Room under Bonus Craftivism Challenge.

Thanks so much for your continued prayers!

Today is the last day to mail these out, so if you can find time to make a quick one and get it shipped, we'd greatly appreciate it!
So far, we have a commitment of 8. We need 100. That's still a long way to go.

Prayers and bunnies are desperately needed!

Sorry - I just realized I had a mistake in the original post! Bunnies with choking hazzards should be marked for the over 4 crowd! I had meant that they should be marked to WARN the under 3 crowd. OMG, what we type when we are in a hurry!

Please be praying that our 8 stuffed bunnies multiply like real bunnies - we are so short!

Just talked to the pastor of the First Church of God down in Harrisburg. Mine was the only package to arrive. Meaning out of 100 rabbits needed, they only received 5.

I can't believe that after putting this up all over here on the farm, and on my blog, and on every blog hop I could put Righteous on, that mine was the only package. Wow. Feeling very deflated. Wondering how/when/if I can squeeze in a few more somehow. There is no way I can do all 100 by myself.

If you can find time this week, please make one and send it.
