Well, even tho' I said I was not going to buy anymore vintage machines.. I did... My Bad! Singer 403A Hubby and I were at the Local Goodwill,,, I was lagging behind, looking at a tray when Hubby dearest spotted this machine... and heres the really good news... $14.95 for the machine and sewing desk and the 403A runs awesome! How cool is that? Now to search for a Singer 319 machine...

I swear this is the machine my mom had! My sister had a light blue one. I, never got one, and am of course, the only one of the three of us who turned into an avid seamstress.
Congratulations on your find Marianne |

Good find. These machines must attract themselves to you. They wait for you to come to them because they know you will love them. giggle! Honestly, they are really nice and in such good condition for such good prices I see why you can't turn them down. I only have three machines and love all three. All I say is Hooray for you!
Hugs,

as they say... "every now & then, even a Blind Squrrel finds a Nut!"...lol!
I've never paid over $40 for any of my vintage machines,,,except the the Rocketter in a mahogany cabinet.
Skipping & stitching make for a wonderful day :>)

My hubby has found several at different thrifts around here and never paid more then $5.00 for any of them. Currently, I'm using one of them (have been for a couple years) which is a Kenmore . . . the "sagey" green one that weighs a "ton". Not fancy, but it is a workhorse . . . been sewing the hundreds (yes, literally!!!) of aprons on it that I've sold in the same time frame. But there are some Singers around here (my mother-in-law's which needs some gears replaced because I sewed the daylights out of it) and a Brother which needs a flat platform to turn that arm into a more useable flat surface. Anyway, sewing machines are around . . . some in terrible condition, but some in great shape. CJ

CJ at one time there was a vid on utube about how to make a flat table for sewing large things. I plan on making one for my Brother for that reason, the table is too small to be of use. The lady used blue foam board and duct tape to fashion a table that went around the front, gave lots of room on the left and extended out the back. I think I recall that she used a fold up table for the base.

I had the machine of my husband's grandmother serviced last summer, and what a dream!!! It's a 1955 Singer and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. AND I found its twin at an antique store for $50 and had a really hard time resisting, but I didn't need it nor did I have space for it, but I really really hope someone buys and appreciates it!

That sagey green Kenmore is my absolute favorite! My mom has one and then I got it and then it stopped working and my mom has it back now. I'm hoping it gets fixed soon! It is the best machine ever!!! Maybe I'll find another one sometime! :)
