I just ordered some of the Mini Masters books and the few that I have my kids absolutely love! There is at least one book, possibly a few others that do have nudity in them because they are "art". I'm not sure how I feel about that yet, like if I will order them to add to our collection or not. Either way I love the fact that I can introduce my kids to different styles of art while including rhyming. It keeps all of us occupied! We also have a few other "classic's" like "Go Dog Go" a few Dr. Suess and a few other farm type books like "Big Red Barn" some bunny books (like Peter Rabbit). It makes me smile inside when I see my kids sitting in front of their row of books "reading" to each other when I finish reading to them.

I use Discovering Great Artists http://www.amazon.com/Discovering-Great-Artists-Hands-Children/dp/0935607099 It's for older children. I've used it since my girls were 7 & 10 or so. (They still enjoy it at 11 & 14). Great projects, learn about the artists and have a good time!

Wish I had known about the mini masters when they were littles. I think it's a great way to instill a love of art with your children.

Great! Thanks for the tip! I was wondering yesterday how to keep encouraging the kids to learn about art as they get older :)

My mom kept a large set of Time-Life art books on a shelf right outside the bathroom door. They were the only reading matter available and sometimes you were stuck there for awhile. Most of what I know about Dutch masters I learned in the lavatory!

Debra,
Your mom sounds pretty smart. I think that is a fantastic idea!

Also check out the "Poetry for Young People" series. It introduces kids to the great literary masters with great illustrations.
