Well today we are packing again. I am having the movers come on Wednesday for a couple hours and I am hoping to have everything ready and organized so we can just get this over and done with!

Alee I am so glad you found another place to move in to. I have been worried about it every since I saw the other post you left. So hard out there in the world now a days. Is the yard very big. Maybe big enough for a corner kitchen garden some place. You guys are in my prayers with your new move. If I was there I would help you move!

Thanks ladies- no the yard is tiny and shaded by the neighbor houses. I might be able to have some container gardens or window boxes but not much. But it will be a wonderful place all things considered. I am just looking forward to being able to get rid of the cardboard!! Lol

Alee- I really hope this new move will have some hidden positive surprises to make up for the disappointment of losing your farm! Maybe the arrival of Spring will help! Good Luck and keep us posted.

Alee,
Good luck on your move- I guess by now you are a professional...LOL
I am sure that once you are FINALLY settled that being the farmgirl that you are, you will find all of the positives in your new home. I hope that the move goes smoothly, and you can finally "settle in" for a while.

Never underestimate the power of bartering. Is there someone near that does have a yard who would let you have a garden there in exchange for fresh veggies? Is there a church with a foodbank that would give you space in exchange for fresh veggies for the food bank. Can you plant shade tolerant stuff and get less yield? Think way out if the box. The solutions are right there.

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping!

Alee, hope your move goes smoothly and getting setteled in too. I did some container gardening last year, didn't have as great a yeild, but did get some nice tomatoes.

Oh for the simple life: family, quilts, corgi's, horses, homemade everything.

Alee: I know your move is bittersweet but at least you will have a home. I don't know how big your family is but at least you may have those container gardens. Remember, nothing lasts forever. Here's hope for the future! God Bless

Thanks ladies- we actually have a pretty good outlook on the move I think. We have made some good contacts and Tala has a great home out here until we have our own land. The house we are moving to is in a fabulous historic distric which I love- lots of old houses and established families so it feels really safe. We are looking at getting out own property in about 14 months! I am so so so excited. I feel like I have been waiting forever for our farm to come. It's on it's way. We are in the last year to get our credit fixed and things in order.

Right now we are packing and cleaning. Tomorrow just before noon the movers are going to arrive and we are just going to hurry up and get it done. Doug is taking the day off so I figure with three guys and a farmgirl we can empty a little farmhouse out in no time. I am trying to "clean as we go" but we all know that is easier said than done with a move. So I am anticipating at least an hour cleaning after the guys leave which will leave just about enough time for them to unload the truck before Nora and I arrive at the new house. Pretty great timing I think! :)

Good luck with your move today, Alee. I know you will feel like home in no time. Wherever you are, you have your family and alot of support from this family here and you will be fine. It does sound like a very nice neighborhood there.

Thanks ladies! We are going to leave in a few minutes go get our truck from Budget. Then I am going to go get our keys from the landlord and Doug is going to start packing the electronics. By 11:30 our guys are going to arrive and the house is going to be moved really swiftly I think!

Alee I have been reading your posts and I am so sorry for the situation that you and your family are in. I pray that the move is due to some great blessing (a better farm perhaps?) just around the corner.
Several years ago we had a beautiful house bought out from underneath us and we could not figure out why we would have lost it as it seemed perfect. A couple months later we found 6 acres in the country and thought that this MUST be the reason we lost the first house to another buyer...we were meant to have that land. Nope. It too was bought out from under us. Several more years later through a cold call (long story) I found the most amazing, perfect, beautiful piece of property that made the other two pale in comparison. It literally had EVERYTHING on our list plus several "hope and dream" items that we never, ever thought would be possible.

I don't want to depress you with this story but sometimes we are saved from ourselves. I truly pray that you are comforted and not beaten down by this experience. You offer so much to so many others and that karma will come back to you.

Thanks Kathryn- I know what you mean but since we are renters the property was not ours and so we will be buying our forever home in then next 14 months or so. However, I feel that by us being understanding with the landlord we made a great contact and a friend. The people who moved into our house are very nice and I think they will enjoy it a lot.

We are still settling in at our new place. I just saw tulips sprouting in the back yard so that is a nice surprise. I love tulips! :)
