Don't know if this is the perfect place for this post, but seemed like a pretty darn good spot! I received in the mail a letter for a kitchen towel exchange. The idea is that you receive a letter with two names on it. You send a kitchen towel to the name listed in the number one spot. You also receive a second letter with the two name spots emtpy. You then place the name in number 2 on your original letter in the number 1 spot and your name in the number 2 spot, make six copies and send this out to six people. In theory you should receive back 36 new towels from different people! I have done a recipe exchange like this and gotten some great recipes from it! I am writing to see if anyone would like me to include them in my mailing list to be involved with this. I think it sounds like so much fun!

Hey Libbie, maybe we can somehow make a future chapter project of kitchen towel exchanges!

What about making it an embroidery project? Flour sack towels are great and inexpensive and it's easy to do an iron on transfer pattern. I've got a set of days of the week towels going now.

Lynn -- that sounds like a great idea!!! How fun to have a set of kitchen towels that are filled with farmgirl charm. I'm excited to see how this can work. Great suggestion!!!!

Libbie, if you want I can email you the original letter and we can try to figure out a way to do it with chapters. Will have to tweak it a little, but if we put our heads together I'm sure we could figure it out!

Laura, doing the embroidery towels sounds like a great idea! Now, I just have to learn how to do it...

I got a dishtowel chain letter from my aunt a few years back. I thought it was a good idea, too, and followed through, but evidently the people I sent it to broke the chain, because I never got not even ONE dishtowel!

Since chain letters are questionable I would prefer to participate in a swap or exchange rather than a chain, since the chain always depends on finding more and more people to participate. Some people are sensitive to receiving chain letters, also.

Hi all,
Over in the Stitching Room, there is currently an embroidered tea towel swap going on (it is under the topic 'Swaps'). Not sure if numbers are going to be limited or anything. Go and have a look anyone who is interested! I agree that a direct swap may be 'safer' than a chain - to make sure no one misses out.
Best wishes,
Jayne

I am not fond of chain letter either. Did a few when I was young and they never worked for me. A straight across swap seems more reliable and trustworthy

I understand about the feelings on the chain letter thing. I sure was fantasizing about having a whole stack of dishtowels embroidered by women from all over the place though.
