Washing a few dishes this morning I glanced out my kitchen window and gasped... Buds on my plum tree and February is not even over!
We haven't even had our Winter yet with very mild and record breaking warm temperatures and NO SNOW! I just couldn't believe my eyes...Makes me wonder what our summer is going to be like....

Yummy plums. I wish we could grow plums here in Florida. I don't know anyone with a plum tree. I think it gets to hot here. I have lots of blossoms and peaches already on my peach trees. I counted over 50 peaches the other day on one of my peach trees. I just planted them back in the fall. So I am excited.

Right there with you! We have buds on our lilac bushes, of all things. Then we have seen, before the last 'snow-which-wasn't', little sprigs of grass poking up. Say what?? I hope my tulips decide to pop up...
It has been a very mild winter for us. Normally, we get 122 inches of snow, and I'm betting we haven't had even close to 20 inches. This summer is going to be really bad for bugs. The horses will get eaten alive! We'll have to put Corona on the edges of their ears to keep the bugs from annoying them. Fly spray won't even dent the bug population.

Our lemon trees have tiny purplish buds. Spring is near. Hurray!

I am JUST waiting for the "BIG" blizzard to come swooping down....We have not had any significant snowfall at all. The ground is bare and brown and oh so very dry! I've lived in Michigan for a long time and I have never experience a winter like this one-Kind of creeps me out!

We have buds on our lilac bushes and the apple trees look they are ready too. I hope they don't blossom yet, I would hate to see the fruit (and flowers) lost from the snow. Your weather sounds alot like ours this year. The past couple of years have been 'different' too and we lost alot of fruit because of early blossoms.
When it does snow Melody, you can pack up more than a foot of snow (preferably 2 or more) at the base of the tree and that will help prevent the trees from going into spring mode.

I live right here, not far from Sharon, and it is very typical for us to get a "fool" spring and things bud and blossom and then get wiped out with our typical late frost. I was born and raised her and I can't think of a year when we did NOT have a killer frost in early June.
I watch the fruit trees in front of my house go through this every year and just pray we'll actually get a crop. It's been at least 4 years since there were cherries and that long since there were apricots. They are trees that my dad planted and are SOOOOOOOOO YUMMY!!
I just pray that, maybe this year, they'll make it.

It is just so frustrating when there is absolutely nothing to be done to prevent the loss of the entire year's crop. Everything is budding up here in WA, too.

Forget the late frost Dawn.... We got A BLIZZARD over night that knocked us to our knees!! It was beautiful and wet and nourishing for the soil-We were in dire need of some moisture. My DS actually went sledding this afternoon for the first time this winter...It's all melting right now as temperatures climbed above the freezing mark this afternoon so now its a slushy mess, but man oh man the Great North Woods has SNOW!
