Hi everyone, I don't know many farmgirls yet (I'm new) but I have just been informed that my oldest daughter is expecting. So :) I am going to be a granny at the age of 57 for the first time YAY!
I would love to start a mom-to-be journal or scrapbook any suggestions on either one.

Oh how wonderful for you. I love being a grandma. its so much fun. Keep everything to put in your journal. Then you can give it to the baby when they havegrown up and have thier first baby. Its so much fun.
May your bobbins always be full!!! |

Congratulations! I remember how thrilled I was to learn my first grandchild was on the way! I've seen some grandmother journals at bookstores that seemed neat. Or you could write your own journal of all your memories of when you were expecting your daughter and give it to her. Be sure to take plenty of pics of your daughter, each month to show her progression. I only have one pic of me when I was expecting and that was taken as I was walking out the door to head for the hospital {laughing}. So I've always regretted not having more pics while I was pregnant. Good luck!

We are overwhelmed! I also love the journaling book idea. Guess I should get started cause nine months go by quickly.

Oh! Most excellent! Congratulations, Joan - you must be SO excited! I can tell already that you are just going to be such an awesome Grandma!
I think someday your grandchild will greatly enjoy reading your heartfelt thoughts and recollections, written in your own handwriting, just as much as he or she will love poring over pictures. BOTH are such treasures. My son used to love looking at the pictures when he was little. He'd ask all sorts of questions, and we'd reminisce with him for hours until he knew the stories by heart. For him, it was almost magical - like a real live story book of pictures telling his whole life's tale. He's a teenager now, so naturally, it doesn't hold nearly as much excitement for him as when he was little. But someday, when I'm too old or frail to remember or to re-tell the tale, he will also have my written words which will recall my voice to his memory, and he'll remember sitting snuggled in my lap all those many years ago when he was a wee one, and I was young and strong. I know in my heart that it is then that my handwritten words will have so much more meaning to him. So, I would definitely do both - just give time to each as your heartstrings are pulled to so do! :)
Please keep us posted! I'll keep your family in my prayers!
Hugs -

Congratulations Joan! How exciting. I agree with Nini- years from now your grandchild will treasure your handwritten notes about how you felt, and waited in anticipation for him/her to arrive etc. A journal of some type with things like this would be a treasure for sure! Smiles,

So I actually started my journal book for the new baby to read when he/she is old enough. I detailed daily activities of the babies parents...with my family it's turning out to be a comic book instead haha.

Sorry that you have to tilt your head to see the second photo. lol.
