My mom would like to hang a very old quilt on the wall to display rather than having it on her bed. She wanted me to ask you farmgirls what the best way is to do that. She'd heard you can sew a sort of pocket in the back and put a rod through that and hang it that way, or she also saw something about quilt clips...although I'm not sure what those are. Any suggestions about the best way to hang the family heirloom?

I would go with the rod pocket on the back and rod. I usually just do tabs on the back with hand stitching I use just anything grosgrain ribbon or fabric cut the same length and just hand stitch where you want the quilt to hang on the rod.I like to change the quilt around a couple times a year too so that the hang doesn't pull on any one end. And then I will usually just use safety pins woven back and forth to make a stitch kind of to connect the tabs. when you want to turn just remove the pins and flip it around less wear and tear on the quilt. Once a year I put my quilts in a dryer with only air too to get the dust out and spruce them up.

Ditto what Diana said. Clips would eventaully distort the quilt from the weight pulling only in some areas.

Ditto, again, what Diana said. I have one exactly hung the same way.
