You may remember that I asked for advice about what to do for my 50th birthday. One of my choices was to make a quilt. Well, my mother offered to buy the fabric for the pattern of my choice and then she will quilt it for me with her longarm! How cool is that?!
So I picked out a pattern with all Alaskan scenes. Each block is a double block with a quilt block on the upper block and an applique on the bottom overlapping the upper block. I'm making a twin size using all batiks.
I've never done a real quilt, just the horse wallhangings, so I'm a little intimidated.
I'll try to post pictures but don't hold your breath.

Wow. I would love to learn quilting. It will probably one of those things I teach myself. It's on my to do list, anyway. I would love to see pictures of yours. I think making a quilt for your birthday is a fantastic thing to do, too.
Last year, for my birthday, I bought myself a Large Black piglet. Lol.

Loyce, I want to see that quilt when you finish. That sounds beautiful. Will you be helping your mom? I would love to be able to participate with someone quilting, just to learn the basics, like sewing straight. I'll be waiting to see the picture later. Marly

I will be cutting out and piecing the quilt top. Then I'll send it up to AK and my mom will quilt it. Of course, she suggested that I come up there with the quilt!

Oh just take one step at a time I know that you can make your quilt! Remember you are just sewing straight lines. Good luck!!
