I don't know if this is where to post this, but I am ready to purchase an outdoor Square Umbrella-style clothesline and I wondered if there are any brands/styles that are preferable to others. What is your experience with these clotheslines? Is one brand more reliable than another? Please let me know what you think.

Thanks so much,

With Spring around the corner, I'm making plans for a new clothesline too. Need to call Dig-Rite, because right where I want to plant it is where all of the utilities run into the house.

I am also looking to purchase an outdoor clothes line of some sort just moved in to a new home and would love to be able to hang some sheets and towels out to dry again! The umbrella style I have been looking for.

Hugs,
Roe

There are so many brands out there - Whitney, Household Essentials, Moerman, Crawford-Lehigh, Brabantia, Sunshine, Minky, Greenway, and probably more. Does anyone have experience with any of these brands, or more? Comments good or bad? Thanks so much.

sturdy, no plastic parts, 6 in.s plus between lines is what you need to look for...

I was reading through old "clothesline" posts that I searched on earlier today. Someone said they found a really good umbrella style clothesline from Ace Hardware in a post from a thread that was going on last summer. Then I found a thread of posts from 2007!!! - where someone posted a photo of a clothesline that their husband made that looked just like power poles with old-fashioned power lines on it, complete with old glass insulators. It was awesome. Think I might have to start shopping for glass insulators for my new clothesline.

I have been using this type clothesline for years. I don't know the brand or where it came from. My suggestion is to make sure there is plenty of room between the lines. Mine are about two inches apart. Unless it is a very hot or windy day I skip a line between the clothes, or they won't dry in a day.

I found this outdoor umbrella clothesline on the internet, and wondered if anyone had used it or even heard of it. Any pros and cons? Seems sturdier and stronger than some of the aluminum ones I've looked at. It is a bit more expensive, but it is made in the USA. Thanks for any input. http://bestdryingrack.com/outdoor_umbrella_clotheslines_details.html
