My very first farmgirl friend visit, and we had a great time!! I learned so much about her and saw pictures of her handsome sons-FOUR of them!! She is a ball of energy and so cute! She made me think of Imogene Coca- just a lot of fun to be with. My mom came down and joined us for lunch, and Cilla popped in after her dr. visit. I made a simple, yummy lunch- tomato-basil grilled cheese, chopped veggie salad w/ balsamic viniagrette and chips. (My mom discovered she can't eat vinegar any more. She was a bit pale for a while.) Then, we made beaded bracelets, followed by gateau au chocolate for dessert!! ( My nephew gave it the name "ghetto chocolate cake"- that's what we call it now!)
Here are some pictures so you will know what we look like and how cute the bracelets turned out!! I recommend farmgirl visits for everyone!!!
Well, here we are! Teddie is sitting, Cilla on the left and me on the right. My mom took the picture, which was hilarious because she had never used a digital camera before.
This is the bracelet I made....
This is Mom's...
And this is Teddie's. They look simple, but they took forever!! We kept changing our minds on how they should look!
This was the little friend I found in the driveway. It actually was a baby about 5 inches long. Poor thing.
I wish I could have a houseful of farmgirls! Just think how much fun that would be!

How fun! Isn't it wonderful to meet farmgirls??? I feel so lucky to have met a few and hope to meet more of you as soon as I can! I loved seeing what you all look like too..always fun to have a face to go with the name. I pictured you almost exactly like you really look Karin!!! The bracelets are so fun! Cute!!! Do you have a Ghetto chocolate cake recipe?? I love when kids come up with names like that that stick. My oldest son used to call the day old bread store (bakery outlet is probably the proper name) the "used bread store". We didn't go there often, but when we did I always got such a kick out of that. I am not a snake person so I wouldn't have liked that visitor. Some of kids would think it was neat though...brrrrrrr

The "used bread store"; that is adorable! Hope you write these things down for future reminiscing around the dinner table... Nance |

Love the 'used bread store', Aunt Jenny! We used to get really tall bags of DAYS old (not just one day) bread for our pigs and chickens, and my mom would always pull out a few of the hamburger buns that looked less stale and make cinnamon toast for us. My cousin, eating right along with the six of us kids, said 'We never have special cinnamon toast at home' -- and that made me feel great . . . she had her own room (I shared with two sisters), but we had special cinnamon toast! |
