OK< Let's see if I can explain this...I saw this long time ago and have wanted to try one....It's more fun when you share it with others, right? Right.... Here goes

You take an old book... at least 1 1/2 inches thick or more.
Have an old book with a pretty spine, back and front cover.
First, you cut out the inside of the book, leaving an inch and one/half border of the page...You will use an xacto knife or good sharp scissors to cut out the pages. If you use the xacto knife, you will be able to cut several pages at a time. Cut all the pages this way until you get to the back cover...
Now, go back and you can use Elmer's glue for this and glue all the pages together, and glue all of this to the back cover so that when you finish there is a box like effect made from the pages being glued together.. This is your box..
Now, Alter the front cover of your book with scrapbooking paper, flowers, just anything that makes it lovely, lace, oh the possibilities..
You can cover the inside cover of the book with scrapbook paper to make it pretty
There you have it...A secret hiding place to place your treasures!!
When someone opens the book, it will be a surprise!!
Who wants to try this....Not hard at all
Sign up ends February 28th....Mail out March 25th
This gives you time to find the right book...Thrift stores, antique stores or your own bookshelf....Smiles...

Queen Beth,
Congratulations!! You did it again. Pulled me in to yet another
swap. How do you do it? LOL! I love books made like this.
I will have to get "Big Buzz" to cut the pages for me. But hey,
isn't that what Farm Brothers are for? LOL! I just told my hubby,
he not only is my hubby, he is my farm brother, and he has to always
be willing to help out a farmsister, lest he become a "Swatted Bee"
He just shook his head. Does anyone have a big bee swatter that I may borrow to keep the Big Buzzard, Oooops! Big Buzz in line. LOL!
Anyhow, looking forward to this swap.

I can't join this swap this time around, but I am looking forward to seeing pictures of these secret hiding books! What a fun idea, Beth! Has anyone started theirs yet? I'm wondering how easy it is to do the page cutting and glueing??

I haven't started yet...I think it is a little more time consuming than anything...I will use my exacto knife to cut the pages...Then the pages can be used for ephemera and such!! Smiles

I'm done with mine and then I decorated it.I had so much fun doing it. I found the hardest thing was getting the first pages cut out the center to make it not lop sided. Not tooting my own horn but toot toot! My husband was amazed that I did it. And he said it was pretty! So I am super excited about this swap. Farm girl Marlee

How did you glue the pages together? Just squirt it from the bottle, or thin it and paint it on?
Beth, if you need another swapper to even out the numbers, I'ld like to do one, if not that's ok.

Hi DebbieI just squirted it from a bottle, then i spreaded it out.But you have to pull the paper out and make sure its flat or it will curl and then when I got it done I laid something heavy on it. I put a piece of wax paper between the the front cover and the first page so it wouldnt stick together.And put felt in the hole that i cut out. Hope that helps.Im sure other girls have ideas how they did it. But this is how i did it.
