I know this is a long shot but does anyone have a fabric strip cutter for rug hooking that they are ready to part with? The new ones are just too pricey (starting at $150) for this Farmgirl. As long as it cuts strips I can use for primitive style rug hooking (1/4" or bigger). Maybe some extra wool fabric too?.
For bartering I have a 1920's floor lamp almost exact to the one in this http://www.eagle-emporium.com/floor.htm
scroll down to the very bottom to the one with a seahorse. I do not have a shade and it would need to be refinished since it is an antique in its original form. I could send pictures to anyone interested. Thats just an idea, so if there is anything else you can think of for a fair trade, let me know.

Tammie, what about using a rotary cutter - very inexpensive, and matt with a ruler. Quilters cut, 1/4 and 1/8 with them. They can be very accurate, but for rug making, I have used just the cutter/ruler and matt. Hope this helps!

I too wish I had one of those cutters, I guess I just love "tools"!

I had a mat & rotary cutter but the time involved to cut each single strip was not doable. Where a crank cutter is much quicker and my 7 year old could use it with me. Her grandmother has been teaching her cross stitch and now she wants to do rug hooking. She saw it at an herb festival (they had interaction demos for the kids on various things such as this) which has made her non stop ask me for that tool. I too love rug hooking & its been awhile since my last project since doing the rotary cutter was a no-no with the kids around.-monkey see monkey do-. I am a 24 hour 7 days a week mommy. I do not even get to visit the ladies room (alone)without a follower.LOL. Just thought I could find one so My oldest & I could do this together (quick & efficient) so she could make them for holiday gifts. I would love to start making them myself (again) for friends who are getting married with their new last name on it or a picture to go with their homes decor theme (an apple or say swirly circles etc.)for the kitchen sink area.
Thanks for the suggestion though. I was just hoping someone out there was ready to part with one and thought I would offer up my antique lamp.
....Heres wishing someone is ready....

I hope you find one Tammie. I love mine. I wish I could help you locate one. Ebay may not be a bad place to look...or maybe you could see if there is a rughooking guild near you and a member might be able to help you locate a used one.
I agree with Rhonda that it is worth saving up for. I have had mine for years and years.

Thank you for the links Ladies. But I do not wish to purchase one at this time. I was just hoping I could trade an-used good item for another.
