Hello Everyone,

It has been way too long since I have been in the Farmgirl Connection and have definately missed visiting with other like minded souls. A year or so ago I did a post on here about how my husband and I live. We are living "off grid" in a 16x20 canvas wall tent this is our second winter living this way. Im happy to say that we are still happy we love our simple way of life. Ive moved my blog to my very new and still in the growing process website but hope that I can this time keep up with it. There were so many of you who were so supportive last time and I apologize to anyone who I might have missed on the old post I will have to go back and check.

The reason I am writing in this area of the chat forum is that I have just recently started building a website. Mary Janes Farm is very much a reason for this website and my fledgling business. A year or so ago I was looking for a craft something creative to do that wouldnt cost me very much money as things were tight. A friend knew I crocheted and drew my attention to a section of the magazine. There I found the patterns for the bailing twine bags and bowls. Well now there is a material I can get very easily as I live in a very rural farming/ranching community. As they say the rest is history I have off and on been making the bags and bowls and also added dish scrubbies to the list of bailing twine creations. Recently I decided to forge ahead and try and market and sell more of these items and am even getting ready to do some craft shows this spring. With that in mind I went ahead and started building a website for my crafts (which also includes spinning wool)and wanted to share it with all the wonderful people on here.

Thanks again Mary Jane this would have never happened without that first spark in that magazine. I hope things continue to grow and blossom and would love to share the journey with everyone.

Have a wonderful inspired day :)

Kat

Kat, what creative things you have made. They are cute too. I hope you do well. I would be interested in hearing more about your "off grid" living.

Wow, this is totally amazing!! I adore your kitchen/home heating system. I think this opportunity will give you the perspective you are looking for as to what is really necessary and desirable. I am looking forward to seeing your yarn for sale one day soon. Your string bags are very beautiful too. Please keep us updated on your adventure and thank you for sharing your life with all of us!!

Thanks, I really appreciate it hopefully I will have even more in the future. Hopefully what will happen is that I can share about our off grid living through the blog. I definately have some funny anecdotes and such for sure :)

Thanks Marly I will make sure to check it out. We are getting ready hopefully this spring to build but really want to do off grid still so we will see. First thing is figuring out electricity for the well was a little time consuming last year watering by hand every evening.

Thanks Winnie,

It already has given us a great new perspective one can definately be much happier with less "stuff" for sure. For me it has given me a huge appreciation of the women who went before us and how hard they worked WOW. Atleast if my garden doesnt do real well I can buy what I need. Please follow us on the blog portion of the website I am going to keep that up for sure this time. Third times a charm right? :)
