Hi to everyone!
I am a new member and I am so excied to find you :) We relocated to the Fort Mill area of South Carolina from So Cal. I am still transitioning to life in a completely differnt end of the world... It is soo hard to move away from everything and yet I love it here - we didn't have this shade of green in CA!!!
I am planning to settle into the semi rural setting by finally getting the chicken flock I have always wanted and really hope to add a few dear goats (always wanted them too!) City life is all I know, but my heart sings songs from my mid-west farmer roots! Is farming/gardening a genetic thing?!![](icons/icon_smile_tongue.gif)
I dream of becoming a Real Farm Girl, and running a B&B organic-herb-farm-thingy. Still solidiying the makeup of that dream...
Glad I found you Liz

Welcome to the group Liz!!! YES!! I do think farming can be genetic!! I have farmers on both sides of the family..and although it skipped a generation with my parents..it is all I ever wanted to be. I am not a REAL farmer..but a mini farmer I guess..but I love being a farmgirl! I think you will do great!! South Carolina sounds so pretty! I am originally from CAlif too (central coast) so I know what you mean about that different shade of green!! When my oldest son lived in Kentucky I went to visit him just over 4 years ago and was astonished with the beautiful green...lucky you!! I am glad you are here!!!

Greetings, Liz and welcome to a great bunch of women. I don't have any real farmers in my family background (that I know of) but I have lots of talented, hardworking women in my family tree. One of my grandmothers was legendary for her talent of being able to take any twig or cutting, stick it in the earth, and have success, so I guess I owe my passionate green thumb to her. My brother and sis in law live in Traveler's Rest, SC, and they love it. You will learn so much from these smart and supportive women, and it sounds like you have alot to offer us! Nance |

Hi Liz! We're only a hop, skip and jump away frmo you! I'm in Rutherfordton, NC (to the west, on the other side of Shelby)and I was born and raised in Greenville, SC. You'll love it down here- the weather is wonderful, the people are great, and I couldn't dream of living anywhere else! (Of course, I'm a little biased! :) )
Glad to meet you!
