I just moved in to my new (to me) house and took down the really ugly medicine cabinets in the bathrooms. They were the basic oak with a mirror on the front.
I'm painting the wood a cheery color, havent decided what yet but probably barn red. Removed the shelves from one and put litlle hooks in side, then I will hang them in my closet to hold necklaces and bracelets on the hooks and earrings in the other one that still has shelves. I might even get ffancy and line the shelves with felt. Yippee, new jewelry storage.
Now, maybe I'll actually even wear some of this stuff

I have a metal medicine cabinet from the 50's or 60's that I sanded down and repainted with white rustoleum to match the decore. Came out nice but need to replace the mirrors as they are getting that old funky look.

Oh no!

I have those "basic ugly oak medicine cabinets with the mirror in front! I stripped the oak and cleaned the glass (still speckled and aged with time)scraped and cleaned the porcelain knob and it's beautiful. For the upstairs bath, I painted the cupboard white, placed a textured raised tin type wallpaper on the back of the shelves and took the door off-It's lovely! Both bathrooms remain historically sound right down to the pine floors and antique original light fixtures...
