I loved the season end episode too! I think Maggie Smith gets the best lines & always steals the scene!

Ohhh, Michele, I totally agree with you. I think there's more to Richard and his shenanigans.

Loved the series & simply cannot wait for more. Almost feel empty without those wonderful characters on Sunday night. I have older siblings & discovered they watch it too. It gives us something to discuss. My sister & I do reenactments....probably to see how people lived, but mostly for the clothes...just had to admit that. Love to read these posts & can't wait for more. I'll find "House of Elliott". Thank you for the suggestion.

I am SO HOOKED!!! And so is my 16 year old daughter!!! This series just mesmerizes me. I think you have to watch it more than once to get everything, especially the first episode when you're being introduced to the characters. (Why I splurged and bought both series on DVD!)

I also think Sir Richard had something to do with Vera's death. NO WAY Bates would have killed her! I sure wish he'd stand up for himself sometimes, though!

I just did the quiz and I'm like Robert, Earl of Grantham!!! LOL!!!

The theme music just keeps racing through my head, too! I am SO HOOKED!!!

Can you believe that I missed both seasons when they were "live." I was able to get Season one from the library's waiting list fairly quickly, but I'm number 30-something on the list for the second season. I might just have to Netflix them. When the third season rolls around, I will be better prepared!

Glad to see so many fellow Downton fans! Can't wait til Season 3!! I hope Edith can find her place in the world now that Sybil and Mary are married (well, Mary is engaged anyway!). Poor Bates-I loved him in "North and South!!" There is a sweepstakes through PBS to win a trip to England to visit the real Downton Abbey, have tea with Julian Fellowes' daughter and Lady Caenarvon (sp??), etc. I think you can enter daily until sometime in late April! I found that the show really did transport me to another time and place-such beautiful clothing, etc. and who can resist Lady Violet??

Sorry, couldn't resist posting a favorite of Lady Violet's:
Richard: It is not likely you will see me again...
LViolet: (looks at him) Do you promise?

Loved that!

Sorry to disappoint, Darlene, Bates was actually in the "North and South" BBC did in 2004 based on the Elizabeth Gaskell novel. It's kind of like a Pride & Prejudice set in a Victorian mill town in the North of England. If you like romantic movies, this one is for you-sigh! It's my favorite! Bates plays a mill worker (and is as wonderful in this as he is in "Downton Abbey!")

I do like the U.S. "North and South" too w/Patrick Swayze-always liked the story line between Madeline and Orry...also very romantic!
