I saw someone mention hostess gifts in another thread and it got me thinking.....Do you girls take hostess gifts when you're invited to someone's house? I'm looking for some different ideas. Normally it's a bottle of wine,a basket of something I baked, or when it's summer, a basket of fresh veggies from the garden. I'm not a big fan of taking candles just because I have a ridiculously sensitive sense of smell, and I know that everyone has certain scents they like. Just wanted to know your thoughts on this, or any ideas.

Thanks!

Emily

I do. One year, when my brother hosted, I bought a plain apron. I had each kid draw something in a section with fabric markers.

other years
- wine cork hot pad and wine cork fridge magnet
- crocheted scarf

I'll have to ask the kids what else I've done. I typically go with the homemade/handmade idea for mine.

I also take and love to received homemade jams/jellies/syrups and such. Even a home canned jar of peaches or something like that.
If I know anything about their kitchen is decorated . . . a set of kitchen towels/potholders/dishcloths.

Kristina, what a cute idea with the apron! So personal and how could an uncle not love to get artwork from his neices/nephews!

I always bring a hostess gift! Usually something small, I try to think ahead and really personalize it, but I do also bring candles, only if I know they are appreciated in the home!
