It is 94 degrees and semi-overcast. Humidity is 14%. The wind is blowing a bit and we have a fire warning. I wouldn't want to have to work outside at all.

Just came from sitting on the back deck with Annie. Hard to believe it's the 4th of Aug in Texas and it's only 85 with a cool breeze. I enjoyed every minute I was out there. So thankful for little miracles like cool weather in August. Hopefully we'll get more days like today.

Woke at 6 a.m. to thunderstorms. It hasn't stopped raining or thundering and it's now 10 a.m. So dark my two dusk to dawn lights are still on. Great weather but odd for August.

suppose to get a light rain tomorrow,,, but I will believe it when I see it... also suppose to get heave winds passing through...
Got a water melon in the fridge waiting to be cut into! can hardly wait, fingers crossed it is a good sweet and juicy one!

| In SW Michigan it has been so cool that it's too chilly to get in the pool! Thermometer says 84 but it feels more like a beautiful fall day. Hot in the sun. Have sun tea going on the deck. We need rain... |

| Still sunny and nice and we need rain. Watered the garden two days ago and found it interesting that, while weeding yesterday, the beds were pretty damp. I didn't think I watered that much. Fifty percent chance of storms tomorrow. We haven't had strong storms here in years. Odd. Blobs of weather tend to split just south of us and leave us with no precip while neighboring cities get deluged. |

Yesterday we had 100mph straight line winds for 45 minutes. Uprooted trees, tore off roofs, semis on their sides,electricity off poles down. Eastern Iowa is a mess.

We are ok only a few branches down. Our daughters have many trees down all over
Lots of clean up and no power. It was a Derecho storm similar to a hurricane. Strange to have that kind of storm in Iowa. It destroyed most of the corn crop in this area. Governor declared many counties a disaster. Many roads closed as there are power lines down.

The sun isn't shining today, but we do have rain this morning. Freshened the air. Autumn is on its way and my ash tree is almost naked. So I get to mow the lawn one more time, blow the sprinklers out and winter will be on its way shortly.

This morning it's one of those Texas fall days that feels more like early spring - 63 with 99% humidity. Not complaining makes for a good canning morning.
