Its that time of year again, making resolutions to make life better/easier for us and out loved ones! Share some of yours with us; I'll go first!

Getting more organized, I live in 2 houses, the one where we brought up our children for 24 years and another we inherited from my MIL nearby. Two daughters still live in older home and hubby and I live in MIL's. So 2 houses to clean out little by little as we plan to move south in a couple of years for retirement!

Also another one for myself would be is to work on MJF badges, I never seem to find the time for myself to do this, I feel this will make me a better/stronger/knowledgeable person for me and my family!

I'm also going to get back to exercising. And I'm going to get craft projects that I have started, finished. They are out of control!

I'm focusing on reducing the clutter in my house - mostly my office. I've got work stuff mixed in with personal stuff - and since I take care of my dad's bills, I've got a little of his stuff mixed in too.

But like everone else - I need to work on exercising and watching what I eat. My "comfy" jeans are a little snug after the holidays... Ugh. Good luck everyone! There's a great website for The Happiness Project and she has helpful suggestions for tracking your resolutions.

She keeps telling me when I make something- I used the items and now new ones can't come in the house- Oh My what am I to do? :)

I have several: hopefully, they are ones that are interesting enough to keep!

1. Get out my darn sewing machine that's been in a box since I bought it (5 years ago) and learn how to sew. I want to make my little girl some really cute things that I see for sale at shows and festivals and think, "that seems so easy, I know I could do that!"

2. Knit more. I have everything I need now (received a ball winder for Christmas) in order to knit my heart out. Just need a bit more time to myself which brings me to...

3. Make time for yourself. When mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. I love my daughter, I love my husband and pets, but they won't die if I'm not listening to their every word or in the room with them every second.

4. Get better rest.

Oh my....where to start?

1. Lose weight. The more I say this, the more I gain. :(

2. Be more giving, be more in tune to others needs, and more helpful.

3. Spend more time on working on crafts than I spend on buying the stuff to make them!!!

4. Be better about sending cards and make homemade gifts!

5. Graduate and find a job!!!

I could go on and on, but I will spare you guys! :)

I am learnin to use, and keep up with, a schedule and budget. I will be more organized and better able to handle things in the future. I am puttin excersize and healthy food plans on my daily to do list. I have begun workin on it since most everything I got for Christmas was for my 'new life'. I am completely determined to get a grip on my life and health.

Lori, how bout you slap my hands every time I want to buy something new! Thanks for letting me borrow your rotary cutter. Hopefully i'll have enough material strips sewn together to start another hooking project for craft night tomorrow. Jack gave me weiner dog wet willies while I was over there today and Nat was showing me her new dance moves. Lol! Needless to say, I left your house with a smile on my face.

Well.....
I used to write them out every year, but the main one for me is to created a "day off" for myself once a week. A day to do absolutely nothing related to work, and all fun. It can be sipping tea or coffee and watching the sunrise, a walk, a hike, a camping night out, a day shopping (he he, I never, ever do this for myself), a day playing in my flower beds (I love my flowers), a picnic at the park, a day browsing the book store, a day at the library, a day just writing for fun and not for work.......the ideas are endless and I really need to do this for myself. And....the family must stand behind me on my day off and pitch in for the work I normally do too.

Kristina, your post made me want to give you a hug! You're so wise, so right. I believe so much of our clutter, excess weight, and even financial stresses comes from not taking the kind of "time out" (or rather, time IN) to process and learn from the stuff we clog our lives with the rest of the time. I have a new friend who is an observant Jew who practices the ancient Sabbath laws: no work, no operating machinery, no shopping or cooking -- she doesn't even answer the phone, log onto her computer or even open mail. It's her day to mediate, pray, relax and be thankful for the freedom and relative prosperity that allow her to do these things at will. She's been making me think about how the idea you've just written about is something I want to incorporate in to my life. For one thing, she has to plan ahead to have food prepared ahead of time for her Sabbath, since she doesn't cook on that day. She says this has the effect of helping her be more disciplined about all her regular tasks and she finds she actually gets more done in fewer days than before she began this observance.

My goal is to get healthy, get happy, and continue striving for our life-goals. :) I would absolutely love to find myself fitting into my size 8 jeans this year which is about half of where I am at right now. My heart and my blood sugar would probably thank me profusely so I am going really try to remember that I need to be healthy and happy to be able to raise a happy, healthy girl.

Rosemary - I do try to honor the Sabbath on every Sunday. I end up doing a load of laundry or something of the sort. Thanks for the "hug" too. I just announced to the entire family about it, and that means kids will cook Tuesday nights. He he he! They all have aprons now but dh and my son. I'm working on that too.

Looking foward to de-cluttering closets and making better use of space. Also want to work more so that I can attain my goal of someday owning a vacation "home" ( or shack...lol).
Mostly I want peace in our lives, and for my children (who are 11 and 13 yrs old) to realize just how lucky they are and how fragile life is, so that they can appreciate the simplier things everyday. (Now thats what I call a challenging resolution!!!) LOL

Laurie, I just read your saying under your name "Little House on the Island"

I laughed out loud....we call ours "Little House on the Highway."

I agree that peace in the house, especially with kids, is a difficult one. I hope you accomplish that one.

Krsitina-
"Little Henhouse on the Island" is my local farmgirl chapter that another sister and I started last spring. Unfortunately we only met a few times and then "Life' got in our way.
SO I will add a resolution to try and get together with my chapter sisters more oftne in 2012! When we do get together we have a great time!
And right back at your "add" to the list-
To take a few pounds off myself and get more physical! The older I get the more I really know I should take better care of myself!

I have stopped making resolutions. I do still make goals for the year, but for the New Year I am focused on living each day fully, as it comes. I enjoyed reading everyone else's resolutions....I'm cheering for all of us to have a wonderful 2012!

Oh, I have made some of these resolutions so many times! Namely the sewing! I have told myself over and over that this year, I am gonna get the hang of it. I have tons of fabric for projects, a good stash of supplies, and three sewing machines, but for heaven's sake, sewing must hate me! I never have enough patience for that nonsense, and I think this time I truly give up! I can put together a simple quilt block, sew a stocking, and hem a few napkins, but that is as far as I go anymore!

ANYWAY! This year, I am making more realistic goals for myself. I am going to eek every little ounce of produce I can out of our little townhouse. I am talking hanging planters, raised beds, window boxes, the whole kit and kaboodle. I have new veggies to try, and I am determined to do a better job at feeding my family from the earth and not the grocery store. as much cooking as I do, there is just not enough natural food on our table, and that is going to change! With any luck, my 5 yr old son will learn to eat green food, but I think that is hoping for too much!

1. Lose weight (why do I bother listing this - it's been my New Year's resolution for 40+ years - lol)
2. Try to get rid of the clutter (course I'd have to get rid of parckrat hubby to make this one come true - lol)
3. Exercise more (does moving my fingers while typing count? lol)
4. To win the lottery (oh wait! I'd have to remember to buy a ticket to achieve this one - lol)
5. To tear up this list and just keep chugging along, making it thru each day (hurray! finally one I can actually do - lol)

You girls inspire me. You have great ideas and at the same idea remind me that I am normal in my habit of having the same resolutions year after year. Thank you - sometimes feeling normal is so very important!!

Please girlfriends, as you strive to make better choices and changes, remember how darn fabulous you ALREADY are!

Meanwhile, count me in on the list of "move it or lose it," observing a weekly day off, and making a dent in my stash.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am going to slow down, breathe deep, and enjoy the simple things. I always feel like I am rushing to get nowhere fast! Good example-where did 2011 go? No big resolutions, just try to enjoy each day for what it is and be grateful for the everyday moments of life.
