Does anyone have a good recipe for spaghetti sauce? Like a tomato and basil kind of sauce? My husband LOVES my spaghetti, but I'm wanting to start making/preserving sauce if at all possible. Would love some advice and tips!

I have a Marinara Sauce that is very good:

Marinara Sauce

Ingredients:
1-pound ground beef
1-pound mild Italian sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
3 teaspoon minced garlic

Cook together in a stockpot, until meat is browned and onion is translucent. Add the following ingredients:

2 (28 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes (or 1 really large can from Sam's or Costco)I have used tomatoes that I froze from our garden too.
2 (12 oz.) cans tomato paste
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (12 oz) can water
5 Tablespoons Parsley
3 teaspoons Basil
5 teaspoons Oregano
2 Tablespoons Salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 Tablespoons sugar

Mix well. Simmer for one hour, covered; checking and stirring occasionally.

This makes around 4 quarts. It freezes great.

I can spaghetti sauce & pizza sauce every year...I will dig for my recipe & get it too you after the first of the year. If you don't hear from me...ask again. It is so handy to be about to pull pasta sauce or pizza sauce out anytime...always a quick meal available.

My husband makes fabulous marinara sauce. No sugar is the most surprising thing about it. He adds anchovy paste. He will not tell me how he makes it or I'd cheerfully pass along more of the secrets ;)

My family loves this spaghetti sauce recipe.

1 fat can tomato sauce
1 can tomato paste
1 chopped onion (can use dried)
2 tbsp. parsley flakes
1 tsp. oregano or basil
1 tsp. garlic
1 tsp. sugar (optional)
Combine ingredients with about 1 c. water or enough to make desired consistency. Can add browned hamburger or Italian sausage or meatballs. The longer it simmers the better it tastes. Great in the crockpot. I don't actually have a recipe and just add ingredients to sight and taste.
