The kids and I went over to the fairgrounds to the exhibition building and checked to see how our entries did today...We took my sis in law too, since she entered some things.
The boys each got red ribbons for thier veggies. One entered gold rush zuchinni and one entered anaheim peppers. The girls each got a blue ribbon..one for her embroidered garden angel pillow and one for her little embroidered wall quilt. I got a blue for my salsa and a blue for my dilly beans and a blue for a little wool "penny rug" style autumn table mat that I made. My sis in law got a blue on her maple nut bars and a sweepstakes ribbon for her corn relish. How fun!!
I love the fair! Seeing all the handmade things, produce and flowers and baked goods is so fun. The animal building is my favorite part though. We will be going Saturday night...the kids are so excited!!
I will post pictures of the kids with their ribbons on my blog when we pick up the entries after the fair closes on MOnday.

Wow! Congratulations! I'd love to see a photo of your penny rug sometime when you get it back from the fair. Sounds like your dilly beans and salsa were pretty good too!

It is so nice to get a little blue "pat on the back", isn't it?

I always think I should enter something every time I go to the fair. I think it's so great that you do it as a family.

How fun I am so excited for you. Our fair is in two weeks and I can't wait. Now that I am finally living in the country I am really enjoying all the small town things that I did not get to before. My daughter wants to join the 4-H club so we are going to really check out everything that the 4-H members have at the fair. They told us yesterday at the extention office that they suggest starting out with chickens since we have never raised animals before and then next year move up to a goat or lamb. Do you have any suggestions advice for us? All of this is so new to us and I feel like I have so much to learn.

We all went to the fair tonight...the kids had all day ride "bracelets" so husband took them over earlier this afternoon too. I love to go..but after I see all the animals and the exibits I am about ready to have a lemonade (they have that wonderful kind!!) and go. But..we stayed while the kids rode ride after ride. Travis threw up 4 times today all together..and still went to bed happy. They all won silly inflatable baseball bats and hatchets, and stuffed animals, ate mini donuts and saw all their friends. A good time was had by all. It was the last night of the fair. MOnday afternoon we will go over and pick up our entries and ribbons and prize money. The kids love that part too!! I will take some pictures. TRavis' squash looks mighty old by now!!
I hope you all had a ton of fun at your local fairs too. What is especially fun is while I go out to milk Mona I can still hear the rodeo and the rides and all going on from clear across town..what fun!!
