Me too!
I have found so many wonderful things over the years. One of my favorite small thrifts at a church just "closed" for winter break. They re-open in mid February and of course I cant wait. I recently got my son a pair of Bauer Ice Skates for $5, and have picked up countless sweaters for myself for just 50cents and $1. Its amazing- and it makes you realize that you never want to go into the store and pay $30 for a sweater again!
I also just got 2 very old Ball canning jars- one of which is the aqua blue color...both for only $2!
Oh how I love a good bargain.

Isn't it fun? It's not only fun, but great for a budget too. I posted a project on my blog today. I found some goodwill deals on craft supplies.

I love thrifting - last year I got caught short on Christmas - went to our itty-bitty small town thrift store and found the perfect gift for three different people. And I totally agree Laurie - why ever pay $30 plus when you find perfectly good stuff for so little?

Ooo..good deal on that jacket Dawn. I love thrifting, or junking. I've found some amazing things. I have a $150 dress never worn for $7. Why anyone would have paid 150 in the first place is beyond me. I bought my breadmaker at Goodwill also for $10. Target sends their unsold shoes there, too. I love consignment shops also. I think I could spend all day looking in those places.

I spent $20 at a little thrift place down the road, and I got 4 pieces of clothes for the kids, brand new high end salt and pepper grinder, a lovely goat statue, a hand-made real leather cowgirls outfit, and an antique meat grinder in perfect shape with 4 different dies. Why shop new??

Ditto, I luv the Quest of thrifting... you just never know what you are going to find.
I recently got a Pendleton Woolen Mills catalogue, it had some incredable wool pillows but at $60 I thought, NOT! Needless to say I just found a blue/green plaid 100%wool Pendleton shirt...for $5.95... guess who is going to cut it up and make a deco pillow out of it!?!.... I also found a suede skirt, $4.95 which I plan to cut up and make into a leather deco pillow, but first I'll 'stamp' some motifs on it with fabric ink. If it doesn't turn out, no big deal, I'll just reverse it and deco it with faux tourquise & silver embellishments.

AmyGrace... I love your Thrift store in Rosiallia.... it's been over a year since I have been down there....
Might be a good Spring trip, plus then I can catch up w/Michelle & the new baby.

I come by my thrifting honestly - my mom is the queen of finding the perfect gift at the thrift store. I try to do as much of my gift shopping there as possible but I don't quite have her mojo I guess.

Not only are the local thrift shops a favorite for both me and my hubby, but he shops regularly at the local salvage yard. It's a huge yard and he has saved thousands of dollars on his purchases there. And, it helps that is he very creative and resourceful and can/does build his own equipment, etc. Quite the engineer/inventor!

I wish we had a salvage yard around where we live. However never rule out just putting the word out..you never know what people have. Last My husband built a greenhouse for almost nothing!! A couple of neighbors do construction...one had extra #2 stone, another had a glass door and one had wire for shelves. A local camp was rebuilding the cabins....all the windows that we could want. The only thing we actually did buy was the clear roofing!! We had lettuce, radishes and onions in march...amazing for this area!!

Oh I wish we had a salvage yard where we live. My DH and I would love that place. We are regulars at our thrift shops here in our town. We find so many good things. What amuses me is finding things I have seen in the retails stores that I wanted a while back at a high price now selling for a really cheap price. The other day I saw one of the original Beany Babies, a series one, for sale for $1.99. I remember women standing in line for hours for those little babies.LOL

Our salvage yard accepts aluminum for recycle. We don't have a LOT of cans, but he takes them down and has a little bit of "cash" to spend on whatever he wants. What he comes home with is amazing and his best friend sometimes comes over and they go "shopping" together . . cracks me up.

I love thrifting also, My grandmother took me to thrift stores when I was young, ah what good memories. I have gotten some nice gifts that way too.
It is just fun to see what you might find.

Last week the little mission resale shop in our town announced it was closing. Hubby and I went down and I bought a brand new 100% leather purse from Italy for $4, he got a double insulated flannel jacket for $2 and I bought a 100% wool coat to tear apart for rug hooking material. I paid $1 for it! It's a lovely heather gray. Fortunately, one of the women who had been volunteering at the mission store bought the building and will run the shop for herself, not the church. It will reopen in January and she promised the same low prices. That's good because this is a very poor town and many of the people need all the help they can get. I had to laugh at myself, I saw a lovely basket that I wanted to buy until hubby pointed out that it was one that I had donated to the shop last month. No wonder I liked it. LOL.

Patricia, that's why I want that quilt rack, to display a quilt that my great-grandmother made.

I see they have put out silverware now. I see myself making more spoon bracelets in the future.
