ok it sounds like either a minor injury or an infection...if you have iodine or some other antibacterial wash or soap, put it in warm water & wash that area very good.....You may have to have someone hold him down while you do this...get a syringe(no needle), fill it with the medicated water & gently, very gently get it into the opening just enough that you can push the medicated water up inside...do it slowly, remove the syringe & then with finger over the opening massage the area to work the water up inside...remove finger & massage to get water to come out...Is there pus coming out with the medicated water? or is there a different color showing up as it drains?....Is the area hot to the touch?...since it seems to be swollen it will probably be redder than the other areas away from the opening.

If there is an infection/pus keep pushing the medicated water up in there, massage it as stated above until it looks like its gone....if your medicated water is tinted you may want to do it first with clear warm water so you can see the pus color until its gone then do the medicated water after a few times...if you don't have iodine...grab your antibacteral ointment you use for the family & dissolve it in the warm water...do not use rubbing alcohol, witch hazel or anything that can burn...
Also while checking the area make sure there is no splinters that may have happened laying down on the bedding ect.

If all of this is normal you probably have an infection that will need medicine from a vet who knows about pigs.....

If you have cranberries fresh or dried...soak them in hot water for 15 mins...use a few good handfuls of them in the water...once cooled a bit...give all of this with the water to the barrow....this will help kill any bacteria that may be in the uretha (sp?)...if you can not get to a vet, keep doing this plus the medicated washing & keep the pig separate from the others in a closed area by itself while it heals from this.....

also try to watch it pee, if the pee stronger smelling...more than normal...is it dull yellow orange?...orange/brownish?....or almost clear in color?...any of those will indicate an infection & really should get antibiotics for it...good luck dear hen...Michele'

That's some great homeopathic advice from Michele. Hope your piggy gets better soon Susie! Thankfully you shouldn't have any trouble finding cranberries this time of year.

oops you are right I should have stated you need to wash your hands & arms really well in soap & lay down clean towels, blankets or sheets where you have the piggy before you begin....The syringe if dipped in the iodine or medicated water will help sterilize it....I normally do all this so I don't htink to state it....so thank you very much Sherrye...xoxo....Michele'

I hope your pig is peeing by now, cause if not, it could cause a bladder rupture, call out a vet if he is still having problems before you lose him...
