I love chocolate (dark) covered cherries at Christmas. What is your favorite purchased treat?

We have this little ice cream parlor here in Cincinnati, Audrey, called Aglamesis. It's like walking back into 1920. http://www.aglamesis.com/pages/content/index.html
Each and every Christmas, I buy a pint of their Butterscotch ice cream and their Peppermint. When we visit, I always get a saucer of peppermint (they serve it still in silver pedestal dishes) with a small crystal pitcher of bittersweet chocolate sauce to pour over the top. SINFUL. And it wouldn't be Christmas without it.

Oohhh the cherries look delicious and that ice cream sounds divine! I'm not sure what I would choose as a Holiday Indulgence, there are just too many good things to pick just one!

Audrey, chocolate covered cherries have always been my mom's favorite too. We always bought the store ones. Then when I was a teenager my grandfather came to live with us and he decided to try candy making. For 10 or 15 years after that we had homemade chocolate covered cherries. Even after grandpa died, mom continued to make cherries at Christmas. Now we've gotten lazy and we're back to the box - the box that looks just like the one in your picture. |

Every year the gentleman who worked with my hubby years ago in the quality assurance/new product development lab for nestle, sends us a box of hand made liqueor-filled chocolates. It's like having a shot and a decadent candy at once. My favorite is the white-chocolate/lime filling one. He is so talented and we are so lucky! marianne |

I've always loved the chocolate covered cherries too, and this year for the first time I found chocolate covered blueberries put out by the same company (Queen Anne). I got them in K-mart. They were good, but not as good as the cherries. Has anybody else seen them or tried them?
I also love the ribbon candy - it is a Christmas tradition in my family.

Mine would be those Ferrero Rocher balls with chocoloate and nuts. I have bought several for my daughters stocking (her fav also), but I keep eating them, (I guess I should not store them in my bedroom) I just went shopping this morning for more; a 12 pack, lets see, by Christmas I should have about 6 of them left for Cearas stocking! |

I love them too...but I only like the ones that have the clear liquid in them...My DH says that only Walgreens has them and he goes 12 miles out of his way to get them for me each year.

Oh yummy! They all sound good! I knew when I posted this that some would gag at my favorite but when you see big stacks of them at the stores I knew there had to be others like me who enjoy them! Strange thing for me is I don't even like Marachino cherries but I love these treats! Go figure! I'm not sure I've even had the clear liquid ones, I guess I'll need to go searching.

Oh your right! Eggnog is right up there. There is a local dairy in Denver that makes eggnog that is the worlds best! I best get some next week when we go to my Dad's for Christmas!

Luanne, We tried the Blueberries too. Cherries are still are favorite!
My favorite indulgences:
~Chocolate Covered Cherries (growing up my Dad would always buy me a box for Christmas, after he passed my honey started buying me one every year ) ~Spumoni Ice Cream (I'm with you Anna! This is my all time favorite ice cream flavor) ~Eggnog (not just any brand though, I really like Horizon brand it's alot tastier)

Out west we have See's candy ... so yummy, especially their nuts and chews selection. Unless, you are lucky enough to get a big box of their Victorian Toffee. That is the best toffee I have ever had. But, I can get by on Almond Roca in a pinch. Maybe I am not too picky. I really like Tootsie Rolls - usually get some in my stocking, fingers crossed!
