Phyllis, checking in does help. For me it just keeps the exercise part more foremost in my mind. I am sore from planting bulbs (back of my thighs). How crazy is that? Such a simple chore and I am sore from it? That is a new level of fit-"less" for me. Heading towards the fitness part of my life again, though!!

Yay, us!

Well, I got up this morning and did some stretching exercises, but haven't got on the treadmill yet.

Mostly for me it's more about eating healthy and getting back in shape, not so much about losing weight. I know the weight will come off in its own good time.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Ok, stretching. Got on the treadmill. Only was able to walk for eight minutes. My goal is 20 minutes. I'm giving myself a week to get there.

Stretching is a good thing. And allowing time to build up to walking is okay. The main thing is that you are doing something.

I am going to go and walk in the local gym this afternoon with some friends. I just hope they do not have alot of heat on in there. I had baked oatmeal this morning and I believe we are having cabbage soup for dinner. Everyone keep moving!

Since we are back to the gym now, we are making a chart for our weight (me, hubby and two of the girls). It's been difficult getting back, but we reduced it to 3 x week vs. every single day, plus weekends when we can - less overwhelming.

Phyllis, Kim and Kristina ... I guess we are the diehards!! So glad to hear from you gals now and again. I am struggling to keep up a decent schedule for exercising. But, I haven't given up. Kristina, I think a chart with a visual reminder of your progress will be a great pat on the back for all of you.

Here's to us all continuing on...

Still working on my exercises. I'm up to 14 minutes on the treadmill. I've also eliminated processed sugar from my diet and started eating two apples a day instead. I've lost 6.5 pounds.

Well, I did not lose all the weight this year, but I did get into my "sexy" boots and wore them to a benefit yesterday. I should have taken photos.

I love boots. They make you walk prouder and swing your hips!!! Bet you felt wonderful, Kristina. Make it a habit. And that is a great accomplishment. I didn't get to my optimal physical ability either! Good thing we get to keep trying.

We did get to the gym today, for a 1 hour workout. We took two of the girls too. Then I came home and made a batch of homemade hummus to go with organic celery.

Yummmm. I love homemade hummus and celery. I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes this.

I am glad to hear from all of you who are still moving in the forward direction. It is slow over here but I am still trying to hit the treadmill or walk outside at least 5x aweek. Making some better food choices as well. I will be happy if I can just maintain until the 1st of the year.

We weigh in tomorrow. The kids are nervous too. They have not been watching what they eat, despite my suggestions. I will have to make sure the pantry is all healthy foods vs. stuff like baked french toast (I had extra eggs).

Learning to show love in a way that is different from making something delicious that everyone enjoys takes time.

I thought I would jump in here. Since my husband and I have just started a new eating plan and trying to get to exercising I thought it might be good to have some support. We have started the Prevention "Flat Belly Diet". I tried this once before and it seems to be the only eating plan I can be successful with. I went online and signed up and I get daily menus and an exercise plan. It does cost, but I decided it was less expensive than going to a doctor for a diet. I had to do something; I stepped on the scale the other day and was at the highest weight I can ever remember being. We have been on it for three days and have both lost 6 pounds. It is fluid, but the first four days are a jumpstart to get rid of excess fluid and bloating. I look forward to visiting with you all, here. Cathy

Wow, Cathy, that is an impressive start! Good for you for starting. Most people are waiting for the holidays to pass... No time like the present.

I have started SEVERAL times this year!

I'm hoping to keep things under control until after the holidays, when I'll really get into it. I'm still walking on the treadmill. Up to 18 minutes, and made it more than half a mile. That two miles is a good goal for me, Kristina. My lungs are weak and I can't walk fast, but I can keep moving.

I got on the scales this morning. 8 pounds down!!! It's slow going, but at least I'm still headed in the right direction.

Welcome aboard Cathy! Sounds like a wonderful start.

I am trying to just maintain till the first of the year. Walking outside when I can and on the treadmill when weather is bad.

Phyllis, you are doing great and Kim, maintaining is a perfectly wonderful goal this time of year. I have been doing knee bends while I load the laundry. Trying to keep my "back mechanics" in mind to strengthen my legs and stomach so that my back is supported. Sheesh. Sometimes it's easier to just bend over instead of a deep knee bend!

Welcome Cathy!

Today I walked 2 miles, but ran for 3 minutes (first time to run in a long time). We are still heading to the gym, and thankfully, I have a healthy dinner in the crockpot - Buffalo Vegetable Soup.

Oh, I like the sound of your dinner. I haven't been up to my old self for a few days, so I've slacked off a bit until I feel better. Quite tired all the time.
