"Tis the day before Christmas,
And all through the house,
The puppies are squeaking an old rubber mouse.
The wreath which had merrily hung on the door,
Is scattered in pieces all over the floor.

The stockings that hung in a neat little row,
Now boast a hole in each of it's toes.
The tree was subjected to bright-eye whims,
And now, although splendid, it's missing some limbs.

I catch them and hold them,"Be good I insist!"
They lick me, then run off to see what they've missed.
And now as I watch them, the thought comes to me,
That theirs is the spirit that Christmas should be.

Should children and puppies yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy that should come with this day?
Could they bring the message that's written above,
And tell us that, most of all, Christmas is love!

Love it! I remember when I was a child, Mom and my sisters and I came home from a day of Christmas shopping. We pulled into the driveway and Mom said, what is wrong with the house? We all looked puzzled at the house and then realized the beautiful Christmas tree that was centered in the front window was nowhere to be seen! We all scrambled into the house only to find the Christmas tree on the floor, it's decorations all scattered about and the dog (looking sheepish) in a corner of the room. He didn't get in trouble as I recall and we got what was salvagable back on the tree and the tree righted and secured a bit better!

Thanks for sharing this cute poem!

Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you.

I have a funny experience to share. I had a black lab pup, and it was his first Christmas. I think he was about 6 months old. Anyway, we had gone out and gotten a tree and I decorated it that night. Early the next morning my ex left for work and i didn't have to get up until later. When I did what a surprise! Ace, the lab, had a party! Broken glass balls, garland all over, chewed branches, and the bonus he got into the trash and had that strewn all over the kitchen. And in the middle of it all, one pooped pup! He was out cold. I would have taken a picture if I wasn't so shocked.

Oh, too funny! I bet you didn't know whether to scream and beat the puppy (kidding-I don't condone violence against animals) or laugh at his antics! Puppies sure can get away with alot since they are so darn cute! My pups never tore the tree down, I just had to watch them becaue they wanted to pee on it! That was where they peed outside after all, on the trees! Now I had a cat that tried to destroy a couple of Christmas trees and after a few years of pulling tinsle out of cat gullets I finally learned to not put the stuff on in the first place!
